This is a makeover of a piece I posted last year. Unsatisfied with the earlier 'swing' style, there were very few 'even' alternatives in 3/4 time, but I managed to cobble something together. WALTZING THROUGH A DREAMBIAB STYLE: SOLEMN.STY ev8 3/4 The standard tracks that come with this style are 3288 & 3287. However, the structure of the composition requires arpeggios that adhere quite closely to the chords prescribed (e.g. a 'C'chord should have only the notes C E & G) and although Quinn Bachand plays these tracks very well, they just did not suit. I replaced them with: 3236:Guitar, Nylon Fingerpicking CelticAir Ev 085 (Rev 40) 362:Guitar, Acoustic Strumming, Ev 085 (Rev 70) Then I added 778:Bass, Acoustic, PopWaltz Ev 085 (B:energetic) (Rev 40) RealDrums=PopWaltzEven8^6 (Rev 40) I ran guitar1 through a NoiseAsh audio enhancer to give it more depth and body. Reason 11 sound sampling suite: Vibraphone; Acoustic Guitar; Symphonic Strings Alt; Concert Grand Piano; Oboe (via Korg K61p keyboard). Mixed with Audacity.

This is a really lovely work here! The soothing atmosphere of the song is perfect! I can really relate to wanting to re-do songs I've posted. It seems that almost everyone I post, I immediately start hearing things I wish I had done differently! Great job on this one! Take care, Torrey

i really liked the way the textures of the song changed
during the song. very peacefull and evocative.
it shows lots of thought and detail went into the song.
very melodic.

Thanks, JAOM. When I began to compose this I started with the oboe piece (using a descant recorder). Using that as a base, I wrote two counter-melodies. The first is played by vibes in verse 1, then by strings in verse 2. Verse 2 introduces the 2nd counter-melody (piano). These are repeated in verse 3 along with the original melody. Last year's swing version clocked up 150 plays on SoundCloud (my busiest composition to date). We'll see how the current one goes.

This is a very peaceful and beautiful piece of music. Your instrumentation, dynamics, and mix are all spot on.

The slight build at around 2/3 in is nice.

It's very satisfying when such simple melodies mesh well enough to make a coherent theme. At the time I composed this I was listening to a lot of music by the Norwegian/Irish duo Secret Garden. Their arrangements were brilliant.

Nice composition, well thought-out and played. The oboe sample was okay, not the most convincing I've heard.

Thanks, Tunemonger. Can you point me in the right direction for a better oboe sample? I have looked at real ones - $5,000 + or about $275 a month.
