Thanks jim and mike I'll give those things a try. Would audacity be good enough? I can also convert to mp3 with a program called VLC which is what I'm using to play the backing tracks. Yes, I convert all of my wavs to MP3s in audacity. Plus if you DL all of the effects for Audacity you can do a lot more with a wav file. Good luck.

Band-in-a-Box 2026 Video: AI Stems & Notes - split polyphonic audio into instruments and transcribe
This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
