Dan, the local PBS station last Friday played a similiar type of tribute idea as with Mac's video only for Chet Atkins. Willie was on that along with some heavy hitters like Mark Knopfler. My point being, Willie kept good company with some legendary guitarists. However, my biggest problem is trying to remove from my memory bank the song he recorded with Julio Iglesias. Man, that still hurts my ears even though I had not heard it in over 25 years!
I do recall hearing Willie playing some nice melodies when given the chance on his worn out guitar. In fact, if he ever recorded an instrumental album I would buy it.
