Must click out or hit enter or chord does not hold. That's a common behaviour for a great many entry systems. On most such systems, the tab key also usually works and after not too long one does one of these things so automatically that one doesn't even notice. I now pretty much presume that any cell-entry system like these will accept tab as "I'm complete here". Spreadsheets, web pages, etc..
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
