This one is way outside my comfort zone but, what the heck, I let it rip.
I really stretched on both singing and mixing the vocals.
I'm reminded I'll never be a great singer.

https://soundcloud.com/captainmoto/i-thought-i-knew-you-1?si=17abfcf052c745f4ba60973318ce9f58

Anyways,
Here's the poop:

The Band:
Drums -BIAB, RealDrums=PraiseWorshipUptempo16^3-a Kick, HiHat , b Snare, HiHat
Bass - BIAB 11268 Electric PopUpLift
Rhythm & Lead Guitars - CaptainMoto
Vocals - CaptainMoto
Synth Sounds - CaptainMoto, Spitefire LABs

Playing a Tele style Guitar into a mic'd tube amp.
Used a AEA ribboin mic into a Pacifica preamp and Black Lion compressor for vocals.
Recorded, Mixed & Mastered in Studio One

Lyrics:

I, I've been fooled, I, I, I've been mislead
I misunderstood those things you said
I thought I knew you
But you proved that I was wrong

I Thought I knew you

~Guitar~

Thought I knew you

~Guitar~

Now it's over, Time to end
Oh It's over
No more dream'n
I can't pretend

My world changed
When I opened my eyes
I could see the proof of your lies

And I, I....
And I thought I knew you.

End

Thanks for listening.

Getting outa the comfort zone can yield cool results ... like this.

We like the birds!

Fine guitar, write and no reason to sell yourself short on the vocal.

The mix sounds great on the monitors ... those drums - yeah.

Well done stretching!

Hi Captain Moto,
Brother, this is a really cool song you've come up with.
The effects on the guitar at the beginning really rock. As far as your vocals, I too think you've sold yourself short! A great job on singing this song. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the listen!

Thanks for your kind comments.
Before BIAB my drums where either absent or just stinky.
I start with what BIAB gives me and mess with EQ and compression until I get what I want.

Loved this, ESPECIALLY the vocal. What did you do to get that effect on your vocal?
Guitar was good, too. Great work!!

Love it all, Moto! "I'm reminded I'll never be a great singer." That's very liberating, right? You've really done an outstanding job on this one. The vocals are the best part in my ears. This song is really cool. Your guitar, of course, is perfect.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Guitar was good, too. Great work!!

Vocals?
Started out with my higher register and falsetto.
That was just too screechy so, tried to tame that with EQ and compression.
I've got 4 primary vocal tracks going plus a harmony track generated with a vocal harmonizer.
The harmony is probably overdone but, when I pulled that down, the primary vocal tracks got a little thin which seemed to exaggerate the screechy parts.
I did one more track in a more normal register and that got too boomy consequently, it ended up leaning heavily on the harmony.

Captain...cool song...I loved the structure, unconventional for a "verse chorus repeat" guy like me so that was a treat...neat way to present the vocals and the guitar work is great...thanks for posting this ...Dan

Very cool tune Moto. Loved the intro. Really liked the vocal and the guitar tone and playing. Had the tubes vibrating just right. Super production. Cool changes throughout the song... Well done...

The "distressor" treatment on the vocal REALLY works...it reminds me of someone but my old brain can't tell me who at present.

Everything to like - nice guitar tone.
MAYBE reduce the tinny edge of the kick but hey, this all sounds fab.

Cheers

An awesome backing track and arrangement. Great attention to detail. Truly Original.

Nice work on both guitars and synths. Great mix.

Outstanding vocal.

A whole album of this kind of thing ought to be a CLASSIC.

Captain,
I feel, it is my lucky listening day. Every tune I listen is a total surprise. Very different from your other offerings. Awesome and unusual stuff. Very creative performance and mix. Reminded me some of unexpected U2 release - Zooropa. Thank you for sharing.
