SONG TITLE : "SCARED OF LOVE SO TRUE"

(a song showing my softer ballad side. lots different
from my previous punk offering.lol.)
(dedicated to people in love everywhere. we need lots more love in this world imho.)

ARTIST : moi..ALF-L..(a lad from london (c) 2014/15)

***BEFORE PLAYING THE SONG PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING.***

1. due to the variety of playback systems out there. watch your levels till comfortable with song.
2. feel free to critique the song. apologies if the listener hates the song. the song was mixed for quality earbuds. use them if possible.
3. like all my songs , i used the biab/rb/reaper combo to create this one. (ive done about 90 original songs useing this combo over many years.)
4. people have asked me for more production details in past songs ive posted.
let me explain why i'm unable to do that, much as i like to share info.....
awhile back i had very serious surgery i wont bore people with, which i came through thankfully.
(i'm fit as a fiddle now and hope to stay that way.)
as a result (due to this darn world covid situation) my doctors want to protect me /the surgery success and have me isolate wiith just my wife. but all my darn song production details are backed up in other locations, which i cant get to right now. i only have final song stereo mixes here. so please understand.
5. i like to sing in and experiment with many different vocal styles. this is one of them.

HERE IS THE LINK TO THE SONG>>>>>
https://soundcloud.com/user-302791555/sotruecalfl2015

STORY : is about discovering true love and falling deeply in love with someone, and being "scared of love so true". in this case its a man out of town, maybe a military man away from his love at home.
fyi..in my case i never thought i would find "my soulmate"...then just when i least expected it...
BAM...it happened. my wife and i knew the first week we were meant to be together.
good old chemistry.
OBJECTIVE : i wanted a very loveing ballad of a song. that reflects how lots of people in the world might think when they fall so much in love. and it scares them so much...and that other person becomes the whole center of their being. as in "hits you in your gut".
SALIENT DETAILS :
1. this was a lot of work, aiming for a certain "sound picture". one is never happy of course.
one just does ones best.
2. i augmented certain RT's with a few of my own guitar traks.
3. verse 1. song starts off vocally with a man away from his love "thinking of her again."
wondering "does she think of me too"...when he is away. hoping she is staying true.
then at end of verse 1 is a subtle voc double.
4. verse 2. he needs to get some bucks/moolah/dough to "buy her a pretty ring".
and he "promised her not to sin". he is "scared of love so true". the title of the song.
then reinforced with higher vocs "but when it hits you in the gut, ya gotta see it through".
meaning when you meet that special love, you must see it through.
5. at 1min46secs, story/dialogue interlude about when my wife and i first met.
6. at 2min3secs subtle attempt at a "wedding call" in the background.
hopefully it worked. i like it and i hope others do too.
7. at 2min11secs, return to the main theme of the song. "scared of love so true".
a really human emotion. and i'll share something when i met my wife ...
ie i was thinking "my goodness what a wonderfull kind golden hearted woman , i dont want to screw it all up and lose her". (cos like most men lol...i can be a fool sometimes.)
what i mean is, for the first time in my life i was rocked to my core by this person, after haveing been round the block a few times. how might i put it . it was like discovering the most unique beautifull flower that i had never ever seen before.
8. outtro. guitar theme per intro...starting at 2min56secs. i like the sound picture of my guitar.
hopefully others do also. you wouldnt believe how much i tested to get that texture.lol.

best to everyone. have a great year. whether you liked the song or not.

Nice ballad, country western movie style.
I reckon the vocals are a little loud and the guitar figure could come up a little.
There's a feel of Joe Meek's Johnny Remember Me to the thing - particularly the spoke section.
Cool.

Cheers

Cool country tune. Love how you mix them up. Super vocal, harmonies and backtrack. Spoken word was cool too. Excellent chord progression. Well done.

Listened via quality KRK studio monitors ... apologies smile

A definite western movie theme vibe -- cinematic.

The good laid back vocals and harmony well delivered the lyric.

Well done!

PS Interesting write up about the lyric influences but it would be
nice to actually see the lyric.

Hi Om,

This is a very good song, excellent backing and well sung.

I also thought the mix was good - good left/right panning of guitars.

Well done.

Best Regards
Nigel

Pretty good little ballad there.
I have to agree, dial down the vox a bit for a better mix.

I like the story and the band.

thank you for listening all you nice lovely people.
and i am sincerely chuffed that such talented folks as yourselves take the time to listen and comment.

re level of vocs. v good point...but please allow me to explain...cos it is a topic often discussed in studios relating to the ballad genre.

i'm sorta in a no win situation...lol, cos when i had them lower people would say, oh i like that , please boost it. in the final analysis , its often personal prefs. some people want more up front etc and some dont.

Scott c. yes my thing is creating songs in many different genres. fyi, in past years ive been in various music groups from..... extreme metal rock/punk/blues/classics/church..i'm sure i missed a genre.
for me its all about my great passion for music of all styles, and the different challenges of different styles

what is interesting fyi is, pop/rok/blues folks have never questioned why that same week i might be singing in a more classical group/genre. but ive had many times the
opposite occur, as in 'why do you sing in that silly rok group'...lol.

sadly what frustrates me as i age is, i used to be able to hit very high registers/notes...sadly no more.
i have to work lots harder now.

best to all // happiness //peace.
om
ps i am kinda busy right now ,..family stuff but will
try n post lyrics asap. as requested.

Excellent. First of all, I'm happy for you both. Wonderful lyrics and a good, demanding ballad. Terrific band and pleasurably simple mix. Vocals were excellent as always. [also like reading all you write, too]

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Old Muso,

As others mentioned, cinematic...
Sounds like your song was torn right off an old black and white television western show (meant to be a compliment)!
Crisp and clear vocals and nice uncomplicated music. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the listen.

I pictured Roy and Dale riding off into the sunset as this song plays in the background.

IMHO everything is spot on in this song. I though the mix was really good.

I can really relate to this song.

An outstanding song!

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
