I’m not certain since it was a few years ago, but I think the folder may have been too large to reside in the recycle bin. That's a good point. The recycle bin is typically pre-set to allow only a certain percentage of your total hard drive space - for me it's around 6% or 14gb of my 237gb partition. As that particular folder is only around 1gb it should fit in the recycle bin as long as the partition is over at least 17gb and as long as the percentage isn't changed manually. Either way, if it asks you to delete the folder permanently - don't do that! Move the folder somewhere else to test, or simply rename it.
