Go to www.box.net and click on pricing. Sign up for their free Lite version. Then you create a folder and then upload to this folder. You can share individual files or the whole folder. I'm sharing the whole folder so that i can send a link to prospective employers with 4 songs and a set list.

I thought I'd comment. One of the reasons I posted these songs is so that you can get a feel as to my abilities or lack there of. Posting replies to questions that are objective in nature is one thing however posting answers to more subjective topics is sort of useless unless the recipient has some Idea of your abilities. The idea here is if you like what I do you'll now pay attention if you don't like what I do you won't. I also wanted to comment as the subject of mixing has come up many times. I mix entirely on headphones. ATH M40fs

Hi John,
I just listened to your songs. I think you have a good thing going. Your voice is perfect for the genre you are playing, and it should be highly marketable music for a variety of settings. Given the number of songs you have prepared, I'd guess you could easily make a nice living playing music if you could just relocate to an area where there is enough live music to to provide a circuit you could rotate.
You have done a very nice job putting togerther your backing tracks. You've got the whole package ready to go, all you need is the bookings. Good luck! Keep us posted!

140 lookers. I'd love to have some more comments good or bad.
I've noticed that a ten to one ratio is a pretty high respose rate...about as good as it gets. You rarely see a higher rate than that here on this forum. As of this post, your thread has about 1 reply for every 10 reads. I'd love to know the science behind the ratio... but for whatever reason, I'd say you are getting the maximum response rate anyone could expect.
Some posts get far less, so if you are hovering at the 10% mark, I would interpret that to mean that your post is generating real interest in the forum.

Pat, Thanks very much. You are right the place I'm in now is wrong. Very beautiful but not geared towards what I do. Plans are for Florida come around Sept.. I'm going to buy an inexpensive mobile home in Barefoot Bay and spend around 8 months of the year there and the rest here. I had a place there before. All of my playing career on the local level has been for the VFW,Legion, Moose, Elks, Eagles Clubs, etc. They love what I do and for the most part are very nice people. They also pay well. There are 100's in the area I'm going as well as other similar privately owned places. My wife's health is sort of in the balance so we'll see.

I just wanted to point out you may be mixing in headphones, but you are also mixing in mono.. that could make a big difference. Your mix is pretty much just volume adjustments at that point. Not knocking what you do; I was pleasantly surprised how good it sounds, but there is a difference when mixing mono vs stereo. I like those headphones you are using too.

I just got back from my hometown where I attended my mother's funeral. While I was there I looked up some old friends I used to gig with. One of them said he was now playing "the animal circuit" . When I looked puzzled, he said, "you know.. the Elks, Moose, Lions, Eagles..." ;-)
So, along those lines, I wish you success with the animals.
In Florida you should also have the additional advantage of plenty of resort gigs. When people are on vacation, they are more inclined to seek live entertainment.
When you come back to Western NC, (depending on time of year) you may be able to line up a different class of gig. The animal clubs are everywhere... but NC also has folk music festivals, craft festivals, summer and winter resort areas, lots of church music, and EVERYWHERE there are opportunities to play oldies at high school reunions.
Anyway, you are a very talented guy. Good luck on every part of your plan (relocating, booking, etc)
