"He's all excuses for the heart that he tore
Just one more chance it's like it was before
A bed of roses till there's a thorn "

Having known folks who experienced this kind of sad relationship we thought the aggressive band with the softer vocals and gentle melody helped relate the duality of the emotions in these situations.

The band sounds in the pocket as do your instrumental performances.

Our comments are based on a listening mashup of all three smile

Poignant indeed.

J&B

PS We did a song with Tom Adams several years ago on the same subject. It was very sad but with an upbeat arrangement. Tom said the same thing Janice did (above) about it being an effective way, as in your song, to deliver the story.

Ray,

I really like the feel of this song. To me it has the vibe of the early nineties band The Field Mice.

Great sound!

Typically your style. Very interesting song with a lot of potential!
But I only heard the third version.

The melody is nice, the vocals kind of sweet and even almost shy, while that drummer gone too wild for this composition.
So either sing the song more wildly, with some screams, or tame that drummer. That is what I think.
But maybe the lyrics can't handle that suggestion. They are very nice.

A sad but true enough story in that song. It's hard to write lyrics like that so my hat is off to you. Good work on arranging the band. Good work.

Glad you "got" the blend.
Perhaps you could link to the TA song?

Thanks Hans,
Juxtaposition is the key in the verses of this one Hans, the contrast of vocal & band while the chaotic drumming in the chorus matches the 1st line - crashing down.
I did try to add some aggro to the vocal but I don't have it in me...the theme of the song seemed to remove that.

Hi Ray,

I listened to your original mix a couple of days ago but didn't have time to comment.

Your latest sounds great! Nice job on all the instruments. Mix sounds good, I like the pan on the guitars.

Cool ending!

Good song, enjoyed.

I absolutely love the 12-string arps. I'm a sucker for that jingle-jangle sound. Loved the solo too.

I know some are calling for a more aggressive vocal. I think its fine. Heck, you could try singing it like David Gates or Dan Fogelberg. Ha--that would be a great juxt with the lyrics. crazy

Thank You,
Perhaps I could do a crooner remix...get a pile of big band sounds from BIAB to do?
You've given me a laugh...Gates! Fine songwriter, guitar player & singer but wow what a juxtaposition that'd be.

Sonically, very cool.

A good write, but a bit hard to make out the lyrics.

I enjoyed the listen! smile

Thank you sir,
Yes, a good vocalist would've have sung with a cleaner, clearer voice. Mine is blunted by essential processing. I had hopes of a better voice on this but to no avail.

OK
HERE IT IS

Interstate 75 is a well known route from Canada to Florida passing through Ga. A lot of folks reacted to the song wondering why she returned to him. Guess they missed or were not aware of codependency. It's loud. Back before we were mixing for the streaming platforms.
Alert - it’s a country song smile Tom is an ace guitar player of many genres and a heckuva steel player.

I listened back then but forgot to comment.
I 75 is SUPERB and the melody is a perfect mix of anxiety & resignation.
LOVE IT
Highly recommended.
