Let's have at it, pros and cons.

This is not controversy for it's own sake, it's thinking outside the box.
Move the forums to Facebook.

Cons:
1. Leave things alone, change is bad.
2. We are comfortable here, stay in our neighbourhood. (Why does it insist I spell that word wrong?)
3. Hmm.

Pros:
1. You can easily post videos, photos and everyone hangs out there = sales.
2. More sales equals more development.
3. This type of forum is outdated, and makes communication harder.

I don't know, it was a hmm moment, maybe I'm way off base, maybe not. There is a facebook group, just it's quiet...they don't even post stuff like the last build there.

Have at it guys and gals.....

Maybe we should all try and do both...???

BTW, due to Canadian laws on privacy Facebook had to make a bunch of changes and allow you options.

Which site is hacked?

I'm on facebook, like in all things I believe in open communication.

But I do have some people I ignore, just like here.

John with over 400,000,000 users of Facebook alone it's prime territory for hackers and social networking thieves. Now I must say that this site is no more secure, we've been hacked a while back, however it's obscurity and small membership makes it a much safer site. I do not have an account at any of the social sites nor will I.
Doesn't PG already have visibility on those sites?

Checked out Facebook and there is a rather small discussion group with the PG team answering questions so you may be right on travk John. They may just move things in the not so distant future..

I won't be there either, not that that accounts for much.

Facebook is a whole different ballgame than a forum.
Yeah, infection rate is one of many reasons. I clean my duaghters computer and track where the infections came from.
I know facebook is a cause.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Facebook might be a good place for posting videos and music, but I prefer this venue for the Q & A and general discussion. So I guess I would be on board for the both worlds solution.

I don't usually straddle the fence, but I'll make an exception this time.

Spell checks are performed based on the American English dictionary. That's why Labour, Favour, Neighbour, etc always come up as being wrong. LOL!

As to your topic, it really doesn't matter what the site developers do. There will always be a threat of a possible hack. Nothing is 100% secure in this digital world.

For the most part all seems okay as is. We can communicate. That's a good thing

Cheers,
Mike

I recently closed my Facebook account for various reasons. I would reopen if that was the only way I could reach this forum, but I hope there are some alternatives to that.

Same rules apply there as anywhere.

I still do consults for nightclubs, at least until the end of the month.

I retiring from my retirement jobs.

Every club has had issues with Dj's and computers. Owners don't understand. They give the nut job internet, he loads limewire or some other thing, and downloads a virus. Then the local provider has rules. You shoot out 100 emails at once and they pull the plug. The second time they pull the plug for a week.

The owner of the biggest DJ/PA mixer shop uses me because I'm old enough to convince the guy that the DJ does not need that. And I show them how to get a subscription to a service gives you every piece of music, with royalties, say up to 10,000 songs. You have a secure download site that way. I've walked in at 9 p.m. before it's busy and the idiot is chatting on MSN, facebook, and downloading from Limewire while counting his illegal substance...and drinking vodka from a thermos.

They used to send in one of the sound guys, but they are just like the DJ, ponytails tattoos, sneakers. I wear a jacket, say "get the internet outta the booth", get the guy a netbook for an hour and he can download from a secure site. Cost, $350 bucks, plus $150 for the advice. Just do a report like a doctor would. I even get a small commission on the netbook, and on the services. A separate note about the booze and drugs, and a sample warning letter about what's permitted and if you do anything illegal your butt is out the door.

Every DJ booth in town had the same issues. And the cure is the same.

I'm too old now to care about $150 bucks even if it takes an hour site visit and 1/2 for a report.

I just gave that work to a friend of mine who's 10 years younger and looks like an aged bouncer. He should do fine.

We've all seen people post stuff here, 2nd post whatever with a redirect website takes you shopping for porn. Never had that happen to me on Facebook.

And I know what my nieces and nephews all over the country are doing. There's good, bad and ugly.

It would be a bummer in that I have Facebook blocked as well as MySpace. I don't plan on using the board should it migrate over.
