Howdee,

The BIAB backing track came from the far east somewhere.
The guitar from California. I played it.
The vocal, well...if you can call it that...lol came from Texas
The lyrics were just off the top of my head. If you want them you will need to copy them off the recording.
Playing with some new toys.
Mix needs work from who knows how...lol

Anyway

COOL vocal...possibly a little loud in this mix.
Your guitar needs to be louder in the intro to fill the space and take away ficus on the bass which seems to lead in that part.
The lead toe is good for the song and against your voice.
Both have a grainy texture.
I'd be inclined to raise the snare level with some EQ just so it snaps little bit.
I liked the interjection at 3.50...sounded right.
COOL.

Thanks, Rayc,
I agree with all you said. I got 600 BIAB backing tracks from The Guitar Band dot Com. Giancarlo Griscenko
Band in a box backing track
in Chiang Mai, Thailand

There are no stems so I don't have the normal sort of control I would if I did everything myself. Just messing around to see if any of this would work out of the box.

I can load the MP3 into BB and use the Audio Chord Wizard to do some stuff. As with any consolidated track, there is limited control.

Normally I don't try to go back and fix things very much but in this case, I think I will try. I can reduce the vocal volume easily and bring up the guitar. I perhaps will start the backing track a little later because it does not really sound very good for the intro.

This was a one-take deal, sort of how I would be forced to play it live if I had never listened to it before.

I am still having issues forming words and working with a speech therapist after the cancer surgery.

Anyway, it is great to be alive no matter what I sound like.

I have always liked Big Joe Turner who had this booming voice who really hardly need a microphone in a smaller club. He was a very nice guy who always treated me like family. I wish I could sing like him.

I told the surgeon I wanted a Sam Cook voice to go along with all the cutting my throat up but I guess they were out of stock on that...lol

Cheers,

Billy

Hello Billy,
I had a look at that site ...lots of stuff and lots of help too. They do say there're SGUs for the songs but I couldn't work out where and for which. Given the circumstances your planned tweaking seems like the way to go.

I also have not found the .sug. I think Jim knows some stuff about this guy. As I go to youtube and explore more of his stuff it has given me a new perspective on the possible use of BIAB for live backing tracks.
He has a ton of info so it will take some time to sort through it.

Bob Notes could chime in on all this as I think he uses BIAB a lot in his live performances.

I have not posted a lot here on the forum because almost everything I do is with other musicians live or in the studio. I have always figured this was a BIAB forum and I need to use the program to post here.

Perhaps I will post one of our better blues recordings that was done in a studio. The trouble is I don't control the entire copyright and legally I would have to get everyone's permission. Not so easy to do at this late date.

Good old blues, like that classic walkdown on the turnaround. Vox are fine but too loud, guess you already know that. Good work!

Hi Billy,

This is a terrific song - loved it.

I think Ray is on the money - a few edits in your DAW and you will have a real winner on your hands.

Wonderful vocals.

Best Regards
Nigel

I enjoyed listening to this!

Thanks, guys for all the kind words. I was off creating a cover song in BIAB based on what I learned from this guy.

I will take the time to fix this tonight.

I got too many toys setting here...lol a Piano, a Resofonic guitar, acoustic, electric, and a Mandolin. I have had them all in my hand in the last two hours...lol

One thing about getting old, the wife goes to sleep early and I get to stay up all night and get up at the crack of noon...lol Well..there is that honey doo list!

NUMBER FIVE IS ALIVE!
Needs to be, generally, a little louder.
This is a very tidy mix but it's VERY POLITE compared to the original. I think you can afford to be a little aggressive with it.
Sneak in a cover...rename it so the snooper program doesn't snag it straight away.

Thank you, Floyd. I really appreciate your feedback. You do such wonderful professional music your comments are truly meaningful to me.

My life is so complex at the moment I am not qualified to analyze much of anything. Health, business, ambivalence about what country I want to live in. I do have a wonderful wife which I can not say enough good things about.

I guess I just think I am still twenty years old and can leap over small buildings in a single bound...lol The superman cape is getting a little worn...lol

Billy,
Glad to see you posting. Fun ride! Have not checked prior versions, V4 sounds good to me. Nice guitars and yes, vocals. Good "live" feel to it. Thank you for sharing.

P.S. Thank you for mentioning that guitar site, will check it out.

Misha.

Man, this is so reminiscent of all the great early blues. Your voice is perfect for this, Billy. This sounds so good to me. Your guitar playing is outstanding. Great feel and taste and tone.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks, Marty.

I never exactly know what people will think about songs of this nature.

The vocal is rough, raw, and to some extent non-musical.
The guitar playing is very simplistic and had a few missed notes. I could have gone back and corrected that but the idea was to do something that had a live feel.

LOL, playing live your mistakes only last for a few moments. Recordings will follow you around forever...lol

Thanks again,

Billy

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
