This is an interesting observation about the exported Music XML. It might be that we would want to have BIAB add code for blank bars, and I think it depends on what the export is for. A music notation program wouldn’t need that, but some ‘playing’ program might. Good question. What are you using the Music XML in?

The answer as far as BIAB by itself is this: RealTracks are audio in one bar, two bars, or up to eight-bar long phrases. Try the experiment of adding the redundant chords and you will hear a more awkward transition between bars than if you let the up-to-eight bar phrase run its course.
