Hi all, I recently took a song I had written and recorded in Cubase VST5 back in 2002, added some BIAB real tracks and after several attempts finally found a great singer. Sadly whilst I have the .all files that Cubase used at the time, I can’t access them as I no longer have Cubase so only had a .wav file of the full backing track and I didn’t want to start from scratch. I had used Sampletank for most of the original track with my Yamaha DTX kit for the drums. I wanted to go for the feel of the mid 70’s ballad period and used: IMPART.STY (Impart Slow-8ths Mallets Folk) 2774:Harp, Rhythm CelticWaltzSlow Ev 085 1728:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm PopBalladJohn Ev 085 3552:Multi[Thickened=5] Vocal Oohs-Aahs, Rhythm Pop3-part Ev 085 3555:Multi[Thickened=5] Vocals, Background GospelCool3-part Sw16 075 RealDrums [in style:MalletsFolkSlow8ths: a: Mallets b: Mallets, Roll The singer, António, I found via the Fivver* web site. The lyric video and mp3 here, mp3 sound is better: Is There Someone Sat At Home Cheers, David PS. *This is all part of a project I’ve been working on to write in styles of well-known artists – Fiverr has been a godsend for finding great singers. Yep! Elvis!! Good write, David. There's so much goodness in this production. I really like how you used the strings. Great choice on vocalist. Such a good song.

Elvis singing Pommy vernacular...odd, quaint and nice too. A little de-essing would be good. It has a def. EP style to it. The strings could be softer and a little fatter. Good job.

Hi david,
that was really impressive. If I had heard that without any further info I would have thought that it might be an unpublished Elvis song.
very authetic (style, voice and arrangement)
Well done !

António nailed the king. If you hadn't mention that I would have thought this was an old unpublished Elvis take. Your arrangement, instrumentation and mix augmented that idea.
Loved it!

Very nice "in the style of" Elvis ballad. The lyrics are top notch as is the arrangement and production.
I visited the link to your project and like what you're doing with the "in the style of" songs.
Enjoyed my listen,
Charlie

The good thing about asking for an "Elvis" voice that your singer should know exactly what you're asking for. And in this case, António nailed it. Love the break in his voice at "Waiting for you at the phone?". Anyway, fun listen. Your project sounds really cool. But "Not by original artists" Is that technically true? And nice work with the strings, too.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to listen and to comment - it's greatly appreciated and I will pass them on to António. I'm really pleased overall it had the right feel to it for that era, and that it could pass off as an original Elvis song - maybe I could add some screaming fans to it and pretend it was a live recording :-) Hello David This has become really good António and you have done a great job Sounds damn close to the original You did a great job Many greetings Andi ;-) Thanks Andi, much appreciated. Yep! Elvis!! Good write, David. There's so much goodness in this production. I really like how you used the strings. Great choice on vocalist. Such a good song. Thanks Babu, I really like the "goodness" description. I think I know what you mean. wow. impressive. kudos to you. great vocals. and high vocal notes. only one word for this...SUPERB.
best om Thanks OM, I'll take that :-) Great song, sung perfectly! I use fiverr a lot for vocalists and have mostly had good luck. Congratulations on a successful project. Thanks TM, it's a godsend for me, I'd certainly be lost without it, bit like BIAB. Elvis singing Pommy vernacular...odd, quaint and nice too. A little de-essing would be good. It has a def. EP style to it. The strings could be softer and a little fatter. Good job. Thanks Ray, and to add to the mix, António is Portuguese, so I did have to do a phonetic spelling after the first take. And I have now downloaded a de-esser - yet another thing to learn :-) Hi David,
Amazing - I could have sworn "The King" was in the room.
Well done.
Best Regards Nigel Thanks Nigel Hi david,

Misha. Thanks for listening Misha The good thing about asking for an "Elvis" voice that your singer should know exactly what you're asking for. And in this case, António nailed it. Love the break in his voice at "Waiting for you at the phone?". Anyway, fun listen. Your project sounds really cool. But "Not by original artists" Is that technically true? And nice work with the strings, too. Thanks David, you'd think so but it broke 4 other Elvis style singers before him! Technically? I suppose it's a double negative :-) Elvis has left the building. Or has he? Very authentic sounding, David. António nails it. Your fivver singer nailed the Elvis impersonation.
The composition is spot on. The type of song that Elvis could have recorded.
I like the octave belt that starts at about 1:25. Then goes back to the gentle part.
That was good!!!
