Who Am I

Who am I? Why was I put on the planet? What is my purpose? Has anyone had these feelings?

BiaB style = Pat M Slow - New Age, Country Jazz
Tempo = 65 BPM

I deleted the drums
Bass = Ample Bass - preset - Ying Yang - FX - Compression
Piano - Synthmaster 2 - Equenox 03
Strings - Synthmaster 2 - Pad - Dronished FN
Me - Keyboard controller =
Lead - and Harmony - K1V - Jazz Harp - FX - Compression, EQ , Breverb
(The K1V is the softsynth version of the Kawai K1m. I have a K1m is storage and the K1V sounds exactly like it. Sometimes 8 bit sounds are exactly what is needed.)
Chimes - Dexed - Pharoh - fx = Breverb (Dexed is the free DX7 softsynth that comes with a ton of sounds)
Me - guitar - I recorded my Xaviere P900 but I couldn't get the sound I wanted so I converted the audio to MIDI and used a nylon string; Kontakt - Picked Nylon - FX - EQ, Breverb

Master - Limiter

As usual let me know what you think.

{edit} PS - Now I can upgrade BiaB! I never upgrade during a session.

Ethereal in every sense...an other-worldly feel...a lovely dreamscape melody and feeling.

Mario,

Hauntingly pretty tune—you’ve captured the cosmic essence of the big questions you ask. Production wise, wondering if those synths are panned a bit too far left or might be better sitting back in the mix a bit. Not sure, and I’m not listening over headphones—so it may be just fine. See if others chime in. Great guitar playing on this as well. Nicely done!

All my best to you,

Deej

Ha. Sure I had those feelings, and believe I have the answers. HAHA. This almost... womblike, I guess. Like the little tiny creature awakening to consciousness in the womb and wondering why. You have a great talent for creating moods and meaning, Mario. Hey, there ya go... I DO have the answer.

"{edit} PS - Now I can upgrade BiaB! I never upgrade during a session." Yeah, man, there are some amazing changes in there. Enjoy!

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Mario ...

Almost everything I was thinking as I listened has already been said - ethereal and dream-like. I would also include exotic. You are a true master setting a mood with your music. I always enjoy your music - no exception here. I seldom ponder the question you asked. All I can say is just have to be me - because everyone else is already taken.

Nice work, Mario! A very enjoyable and soothing listen. Wishing you and yours everything good. Take care ...

Alan

That was an interesting approach! You made the title the question, and the actual song the answer. Brilliant!

Beautiful song Mario! It's like tranquility with the occasion nudge.

I'm not sure that I've told you this, but I love that you make so many instrumentals. As someone who isn't a singer; it always gives me hope. Thank you for that.

Keep 'em coming. ALWAYS enjoyable!

So much MIDI! laugh

Very cool! Strong melody outlining the chord changes, and interesting chord changes.

Is that Nil's K1v by any chance? I used to have a K1, so when I found the softsynth version, I grabbed it right away.

There are a lot of terrible sounds in that synth, but the Fairlight-ish "Ahh" is what really sold me, along with all those Jan Hammer inspired patches.

Anyway, I enjoyed listening to this a lot.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Mario,

Another excellent instrumental.

As I've begun using more MIDI and virtual instruments, your selection of instruments and your process interest me more and more. So, thanks for that!! Old dog. New tricks. smile

Thanx Deej for listening and commenting on this song. At the start I wanted the lead to be on one side and the harmony on the other. The pads were panned equal amounts with one on the left and the other on the right. Maybe I didn't get the blend I thought I got. Thanx for bringing that up.

Thanx Marty for this very kind review. I don't know about that great talent comment but I sure have fun with my instruments and BiaB.

Thanx so much Alan.

You are a true master setting a mood with your music. I'm not sure that I am a master but I do try to put some feelings into my songs. Hopefully that is getting across to my listeners.

Thanx so much Aaron.

I do mostly instrumentals because when I try to sing my pitch correction software give me this error message "shut your pie hole and play an instrument".

Thanx David. I just picked up NI's Strum Nylon Guitar and used it for the first time in this song. Now I have to go back and read the manual.

Thanx David.

Yes that is the K1v that I used. I have a few old hard synths here that I use occasionally. But if there is a softsynth version available at a decent price I will pick it up. I also have a TX81Z hard and soft synth.

Thanx Floyd.

I'm positive that you will do extremely well with MIDI and virtual instruments. I have been doing MIDI songs since the mid 1980's, starting with an Atari and Dr. T's sequencer, so I have accumulated a number of MIDI sounds and FX plug-ins over the years.
