I have number of styles that I created during experimentation with the RealTracks feature. Is there a simple way of deleting these styles other than accessing them directly in the styles folder?

xx:\bb\RealTracks\UserTracks where xx is the drive your bb install is located.

This will access the folder so you can select and delete styles you no longer want to keep.

My path was c:\bb\RealTracks\UserTracks

I was under the impression that styles could only be stored in the Styles folder. When I save my custom style it was stored in the Styles folder and I dleted it in the same manner that you have just described. I just thought it could be deleted from the Styles list.
But I will lok at this because I don't want 3rd party styles mixed with BB stuff. Currently I have these in a sub folder of Styles.

Don't confuse User Styles and User Tracks. That could lead to dire consequences.

BIAB will only index styles located in the "C:\BB\Styles" folder (or wherever you have BIAB installed. So if you don't want your use styles to show up in StylePicker, you can just remove the style file from the Styles folder, and then do a Slow Rebuild of StylePicker.

That being said, you can store your own styles anywhere on the hard disc. If you click the little down arrow next to the StylePicker button, you can select "Open Style From Disc", navigate to where you keep your user styles, and select it. That way you can use it; it just won't show up in StylePicker.

Additionally, if you store a style in the same folder that you keep your song(s) that use them, BIAB looks there first for a style file, and if it finds it, uses it. If it doesn't find it, it then looks in the Styles folder.

Hope this helps.

Yes John, that was how I understood it to be. To make it easier to manage I put my user styles in a folder which was nested in the Styles folder; that way I could easily keep them apart but still have them indexed in the stylepicker.

But my original query was that, having made a user style, do I nhave to visit the styles folder to delete it? I thought I might have been able to do this from the style picker, but perhaps too dangerous!

To delete a style, yes, you'll have to delete the style file, then rebuild StylePicker to remove it from the list.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't think the Styles folder allowed subfolders that were recursively read (unless I missed that feature). There was a time previously where all the BIAB styles were in the main BIAB folder, but you could also use a Styles folder for your own user styles. They then changed it where they moved all the styles to the Styles folder.

I'll test subfolders under Styles and see if they are read and indexed; if so, that's great. I'll report back.

I just created a sub-folder under Styles and moved all my Norton Styles there. When I rebuilt StylePicker, all my Norton styles disappeared. So I moved them back to the Styles and after rebuilding, they all reappeared.

So, it looks like for them to be in the StylePicker, they have to be in the Styles folder only.

You're right John. Although I had the subfolder inside the Styles folder the styles were also in the main list! This is something I came across a long time ago and looking back I thought I had 'fixed' it. Now I can remove that sub folder.

But this is a feature that really should be included to allow organisation of styles.

Perhaps you will make a wishlist suggestion in the +++ Band-in-a-Box Wishlist +++ forum section. I'm sure myself and others would support the idea.

I know I've asked for it again since they changed it. I think it would be great if there could be recursive file searches (I'm okay if it's all under the "Styles" folder, so we could have a PGMusic folder, a Norton folder, a Finetuned folder, a User folder, a WebStyles folder, etc, all to segment out the various styles we come across and use.
