Virtually all tracks, regardless of RealTracts(Audio) and RealDrums(Audio), contain Midi along with the audio. The Midi in BIAB is General Midi (GM) therefore the patches default to the midi instruments (if your synth is setup proper). So if you disable audio, you may still hear midi playing depending on how you synth is setup. Tracks brought into your DAW can contain Audio, Midi or both.

Back to the Midi. Midi for RTs is generally "transcribed" to meet the audio and therefore may not be note for note, nor contain the velocity and controller setting. The exception is MidiSuperTracks (MST) which is Midi, actually played by the artist. Also, midi for the RDs can be recorded from a midi drumkit so the midi is also played by the artist.

Does that help?
