I am not getting any sounds when trying to use either Big Piano with a RealTrack, or when pressing Shift/Enter on a bar. Anybody else experiencing this, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Hi Thunderthud,

Are you getting any sound from Big Piano and Shift+Enter? You should be. It won't be a Realtracks sound, though. If you aren't getting any sound at all, I suggest using "Return to MOST factory settings" that's found under "Options".

The reason you won't hear Realtracks with Big Piano or Shift+Enter is because Realtracks are phrases of audio recordings and not individual notes. When you use Big Piano or Shift+Enter, what you hear are MIDI sounds. Realtracks cannot be used to create MIDI events.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Noel

Even when using an all MIDI style, Shift/Enter isn't working for me.

Firstly, check the Thru track. If this is muted or the volume is turned down, there will be no sound with Shift+Enter.

Secondly, did you try the "Return to MOST factory settings" that I mentioned above? If not, do this before doing the below.

Thirdly, try this as a test and let me know the results.

1. Click on "File | New" to create a brand new chordsheet.

2. Enter a few simple chords in in the first couple of bars (e.g. C F G C)

3. Place the cursor on one of the bars with a chord in it and hold down shift. Now while holding down shift, press Enter.

Regards,
Noel

Do you hear any sound?

The big piano and Shift+Enter use the Windows Media Player, or WMP for short, to playback the generated audio.

Chances are WMP is not installed on your computer. WMP use to be part of the Windows operating system but Microsoft made it an optional component.

+++ HERE +++ is a Windows Support article about installing WMP.

SOLVED...
I'm not totally sure why, but I went into the MIDI Driver settings (which I had not changed, and had been the same for years), and unchecked everything, and re-set it up, the same way, and it started working!

Thanks to everyone that tried to help out. I appreciate it!

SwingBabyMix, You have a different issue than what is being discussed in this thread.

Thunderthud,

I'm glad you got it working!

My next suggestion would have been to "Return ALL to factory settings". This is the lower option in "Factory settings". That would have forced you to reset your driver setup for MIDI and Audio and sounds like it would have worked.

All the best now that you are up and running,
Noel

Thanks for updating the thread and letting everyone know what worked. Like the others I don't remember another case where resetting the MIDI Driver Settings made a difference.
