Good find. I'll put some time in to watch this and visit the guy's website. I just recently read that like 56% of Beatles songs were in the AABA song form, which is my favorite writing style lately. I hope this guy can help me progress in my understanding of the once very popular song structure.

Good find. I'll put some time in to watch this and visit the guy's website. I just recently read that like 56% of Beatles songs were in the AABA song form, which is my favorite writing style lately. I hope this guy can help me progress in my understanding of the once very popular song structure. Watch Peter Jackson's "Get Back". You'll hear the lads talking endlessly about "let's do this then that then that then the solo then this then that again" and it must be boring as hell to non-Beatlemaniacs but what you're hearing is them discussing various possible forms for the song.

Matt is an internet friend of mine. We met in the February Album Writing Month challenge maybe 10 years ago. His Tickets To Write list of common Beatles elements is an absolute treasure trove. I would guess of the 100 or songs I’ve written in the last 10 years, probably 30 of the songs with lyrics are using some type of element I learned from tickets to write.
