You don't even have to load a song to see what I'm about to describe. Just load any 4/4 style and create a new/blank file,... or you can use any 4/4 song if you'd like.
In working with MicroChords my natural expectation was that if I wanted to use this feature on the second half of any given measure, (beats 3 and 4), I should place the cursor in the second half of that measure and type M to activate the MicroChords action window.
I did exactly that in measure 4 and the MicoChords action window did come up indeed! I placed my desired info into the appropriate Chords boxes under beats 3 and 4, then I pressed "OK" only to find nothing changed in measure 4 of the song.
So. thinking that I may have hit "Cancel" instead of "OK", I did it again making sure that I hit "OK" this time. Well, I got the same result--nothing changed in measure 4.
So, on my 3rd time of setting things up in the second half of measure 4, I looked at every element in the action window and I saw that, in the "Current Bar" area, located in the MC action window's top left corner, a numeral 5 was displayed!
So, I went back and placed the cursor in the front part of measure 4 (over beats 1 and 2) after which I, again, placed my desired info into the appropriate Chords boxes, under beats 3 and 4. Then I pressed "OK" again and this time there was a numeral 4 displayed in the Current Bar area and the results for which I was looking was represented on beats 3 and 4 of measure 4. YAY!
So after graduating from that 3-point school-of-hard-knocks, I've been simply reminding myself to get in the habit of placing the cursor in the front end of the measure-- no matter which beat(s) I'd like to MicoChord.
In all seriousness though, If you place the cursor anywhere in any given measure, isn't it reasonable to expect that the action you're requesting would take place in that same measure?
I'd like to know what you guys think... Does this same behavior happen on your rigs? If so, do you think it's a reportable item that the PG Music Tech Team should address? Or do you think it's a proverbial "Nothing Burger".
Personally, I'm OK either way!
I've got one more item of concern regarding Preferences/Channels but I'll start another thread on that topic within the next couple of days. Thanks!
You can read over the patch notes to see what was fixed with each version. Even if it doesn't cover a specific issue you've been having, we still recommend being on the latest patch. You can check under Help | About Band-in-a-Box to see the 3 digit number in brackets which indicates your patch number!
Thanks for chiming in with the link... I'd already watched that very section of the video but since you took the time to include it here, I watched it again to see if I may have missed the part about placing the cursor on the second half of the measure and running the routine on beats 3 and 4.
As I recalled, there was no mention of placing the cursor on the second half of the measure and running MicroChords on beats 3 and 4.
In that portion of the video, the cursor was placed in the first half of the measure which exclusively focused on running the MicroChords on beats 1 and 2.
Ember from PG music chimed in below and she seems to suggest that a future patch will address what I've observed and reported.
Art, sorry you had to spend so much time and effort on a bug which has been reported some time ago. But good job describing the work around,
Dan, I'm a very fast typist and it didn't take much time or effort to put my thoughts together in my parent post.
I just wanted to know whether you guys thought this was a "Nothing Burger" or not, and like I said, I'm OK with this one either way it goes.
Anyway, after reading the posts from you and Ember, it sounds like there's at least one person who already reported this who felt that this was worth bringing to the attention of the tech department.

Thanks for chiming in with the link and everything! I've been aware of it for quite a while and I updated my program to Build 908 three days ago.
I'm sorry I missed the previous mention of this particular issue but I do make an effort to read this forum frequently to try to keep up with the latest developments.
