Louis Cole is really the best drummer in the biz. In addition to his solo stuff and his band Knower he has a second band, another duo called Clown Core. I'll leave you to look them up because while they're excellent, they're not 100% appropriate for posting on the forums. Accordingly, I'm a huge fan.

I really got into Animals As Leaders lately too. Tosin Abasi is savage!

@Simon Do you hear some Swing Out Sister in Louis Cole?

Animals As Leaders has been one of my favourite bands since they started 14 years ago - Tosin's guitar playing is out of this world good. He's in another band called Tram which is much jazzier and features some sax and backing vocals.

I hear a teeny bit of Swing Out Sister in Louis Cole, particularly in the synth playing, though to be honest I'd never heard of them. Really the standout for Louis Cole for me is the drumming - this video is excellent at breaking down some of his beats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OJHDJdplcY

You are welcome.

Excellent stuff there too! I think the aforementioned Louis Cole played with them on one song, though I might be thinking of Vulfpeck instead.

If you like Dirty Loops you will probably like Shobaleader One as well

Thank you - I hadn't heard of them. I'm digging the first video I clicked on (Boiler Room In Stereo), so I'll check them out!

You can hear the Prince influence in Cory but as he moves into other places I hear some Earl Klugh, some George Benson, Adam Hawley, and even some older styles like Wes Montgomery. Rhythm players of that quality are hard to find. His band... wow.

Cory's secret is his ability to completely remove any bones from his right hand. Not literally of course, but he's on video talking about it. Agreed, absolutely one of the best rhythm players out there.

I work here
