Saw an ad for this when I was going through PG BIAB 2022 videos. Sounds pretty good for AI. Seems easier to make a natural sounding voiceover compared to a natural sounding singer.

The actual site is pretty sketchy, though.

There are numerous typos in the dialog ("since the dawns of humanity") and all the popups claiming that people are purchasing it (who supplied their photo with the purchase).

It's certainly not the first speech engine that adds inflections in the voice - even SAM did that 30 years ago.

The first bazillion "reviews" on Google appear to be affiliate sites.

See here for a further breakdown.

The technology may be good, but the marketing is highly misleading as to what the service offering actually is.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

They're offering a Risk Free 60 day money back guarantee together with a discounted price, so it seems to be a fairly safe item to explore if there is an interest.

Listening to some of the samples was indeed impressive.

The stream of popups telling me another person just purchased the product is enough to un-sell me.

PS — Oh man… A Google search turns up a link to this “review“, which if you read all the way to the end turns out to be just “an advertisement and not an actual news article”: https://www.laweekly.com/speechelo-review-best-text-to-speech-software-ai-based/

I don’t need something like this enough to support a vendor like this.

That is as bad as when the ads for those placebo medicines with medical sounding names say "Don't take this crap if you are allergic to this crap." Well, until you take it....

I saw an advertisement FOR THIS PRODUCT while browsing Facebook this morning. Same come on. Same 60 day money back guarantee, same claim that the price will go up because they are reinvesting proceeds of this sale into further research. Different voices, Different price (lower) same company?

I’m not yet sure if SPEECHELO and MICMONSTER are the same company, but they are both running the same GOTCHA scheme. The are pulling you in at a low low price that is good for a short while and giving you a 60 day money back guarantee. You are buying a cloud based software that is good for all of eternity. BUT…..BUT….There are even better versions of Speechelo and Micmonster out there that their ads don’t tell you about. Not satisfied with the Speechelo and Micmonster that you bought on sale and want to take advantage of the 60 day money back guarantee? Maybe you will get your money back, I really can’t speak to that, although I’m still researching. What I can tell you is that when you first ask for your money back, you will be told that if the reduced price Speechelo Standard and Micmonster Standard didn’t do the job for you, that for a couple of hundred dollars more and with the same 60 day money back guarantee, we can sell you SPEECHELO PRO or sell you MICMONSTER PRO which are so much better than that standard version that we sold you that you will be amazed! (We told you we were researching ways to make it better). And wait! There’s more! If you take advantage of this standard to Pro upgrade today (and today only), We will apply the money you paid for the standard version to the Pro version plus give you an additional discount.

It seems very, very, odd to me the two different companies would be trolling the same waters in the same way. It looks and smells like a scam to me. Do your own research. Follow the support and blog links for the two companies and do some googling. You will eventually stumble across the same disturbing information that I did.

Edit: I just read the link that David Cuny put in his post and realize he already uncovered some of this information as it related to Speechelo. It seems that Speechelo’s thing is to let you know that while the standard version is yours forever, the Pro version can only be purchased as a subscription payable at $47 per quarter. My own research indicated only that there was a nearly $200 dollar additional payment for the Pro versions. If my reading indicated it was part of. Subscription model, I missed it but it makes perfect sense for a cloud based software that needs to continually generate new revenue. So there you have it. You should have sufficent info to decide if its worth taking a flyer on. Bottom line (and to paraphrase David): Probable Good software, Very Deceptive marketing.

Micmonster says they're different.

Of course, I bet there's an identical page somewhere for Speechelo. =8^)
