A couple years ago BiaB started using the Microsoft Media Foundation.
That's when I noticed it.

However, when I try to find documentation on Media Foundation I see notes like
"The MP3 file sink does not include an MP3 audio encoder."
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/medfound/whats-new-for-media-foundation

When I've asked PGMusic the response was that we now use Microsoft Media Foundation so it's kind of a circle of questions.
I can say about 'when' it happened, but still not sure how.

On my system my windows codec list shows LAME MP3, but do not know if/how windows is using it.
What bitrate does your MP3 get encoded to? (I get 320kBps)
Curious, do you have LAME installed? (Since you previously used Audacity)
Maybe Windows now 'sees' it .. so BiaB can use it

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
