Hi guys,
I have "Audiophile" version and I'm just wondering why real tracks contain both WAV files and WMA files. Are the WMA files actually used with this version? They are of course useful for A/B comparison (the result of which is minimal) but perhaps someone can enlighten me as to their purpose.

Dave, you are correct in wondering. You can erase the WMA files if you like.
We had a discussion about this when the audiophile version first came out. Given the relative sizes, you would have to erase about ten or eleven WMA files to equal the size of one WAV file. It may not be worth the effort unless hard drive space is critical. I did it, though, on my netbook, where the hard drive is small. I used a directory manager, sorted by extension, and blew the WMA files away in each Real Tracks folder. Note that I only put a few critical Real Tracks on the netbook, just enough to compose with while traveling, so it wasn't a big job to delete files.

I don't need or want to erase them but just wondered why they were included and if they were of any purpose. Thanks for clearing that up.

Hello Dave,
The Audiophile version includes everything that the non-Audiophile versions have, plus the original wave files - we don't omit anything from the Audiophile version. One reason for this is that (as mentioned) the WMA files are small in comparison to the total size of the wave files. Another reason is that it gives the user the option to install the entire program on an internal hard drive with only the WMA files so that it can be used the same as a non-audiophile version, if desired.
