I'm embarrased to aske this question after using BiaB foe such a long time. I avoid using the swing styles because I'm not sure of how they interact.
1. If I compose a melody using an even feel and subsequently change the song style to swing, will the melody notes automatically follow the swing - I think it does, but is this always the case?
2. If my song has an even style and I change a RealTrack to one that has a swing, what happens?

Most times, when I have input a melody in one style and want to change to the other, a warning box pops up asking if I want to change the melody to the appropriate style. Normally I let BIAB do the change, but will check in case some notes are incorrectly placed.

This is an answer to a slightly different question, buy may be helpful.
Quantizing the melody to 12 beats resolution can be an effective way to convert even feel to swing feel.
Melody->Edit Melody Track->Quantize, Time Adjust->Quantize Melody.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.

2. If my song has an even style and I change a RealTrack to one that has a swing, what happens? Thanks for the replies but sadly they are not helpful to me in this case. What I really wanted to know is the behaviour of BiaB when a style contains both Even and Swing RealTracks. Perhaps this is not allowed although I've never tried. Also what happens to my BiaB midi composed melody when I change style feel between Swing and Even. I feel quite sure it will change to the style feel, otherwise it would no longer be especially melodic! I have tried looking in the manual, but can't come up with anything offiocial.

My guess is creating a MIDI Multistyle that combines Even and Swing styles shouldn't be an issue, especially as long as you're concentrating on the music more than a sheet music printout. As far as Band-in-a-Box is concerned the multiple styles are MIDI pattern generators so the program is switching from one generator to another.
RealTracks and RealDrums may not work so well. Swing has a broad range of feel to it. The musicians creating the tracks are playing the feel appropriate to what they have been told by the producer. I can easily imagine feel conflicts when trying to combine tracks.
