Beautiful tune. Lyrics and vocals are fantastic! Your arrangement and mix never disappoint.
Strings work extremely well. The only thing I found a bit of distraction is kick drum. I think I understand what you were aiming for, and it might be very likely have to do with my headphones, but they sound a bit hot to me.
In any case, this is a VERY successful tune. Enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing.

What a lovely intro Floyd. Set the song up for a awesome vocal and lyric. Storytelling at its finest. Beautiful song. One of my favs. Well done Thanks, Scott... You keep setting the bar high on this forum. Saying " Good job " just doesn't do it proper justice.
It's all good. From the writing, to the choice of tracks, to the singing, to the production. Appreciate that, Herb... The song, lyrics, performance, backing, production are all great.

"that's a lack of commitment that i regret a huge chunk of stupid that i won't soon forget" Well, that nailed the feeling. "Two verses and chorus and I'm outa here." Easy to say and hard for many to do. But someone once told me that if you can't say it in two you may have nothing to say.  Well you can do that and the resulting lyric never seems too sparse. The story is there. Your great vocal (that phrasing) and the fine band and mix have amply been praised so we'll add but mega dittos! Loving your art also. Outstanding mr jane, J&B aka usual suspect Thanks, y'all! And, again...thanks for noting the art work! Here we go again! Another great write and production. Your vocal also reminds me of Ronnie Dunn. This is a beautiful ballad to add to a long list of fine compositions. Could it possibly be that you’re getting better at this? I thought you passed that can’t get any better than this mark a long time ago. You are definitely a songwriter’s songwriter, Tom I certainly appreciate that, Tom. Hope we'll se more of you this year!!!
