Only PGM can say what their intentions are or whether they recorded the old RealDrums with enough separation and are prepared to put in the time to do it as you point out.

Mostly, I get the feeling they concentrate on new features and Gigabytes of content to get sales rather than fixing old stuff.

A case in point being the amateurish programming of Drum Shots and Holds (a Tish or a Boom or a Thwack instead of HH, BD & SD all hitting together) which has been an outstanding bug for about a decade now. I say this every year.

Unless it's been fixed this time around?

Anyway, sorry to be harsh but I've bought the upgrade every year, find the program incredibly useful but would rather the basics were fixed so that the 10% of features I actually have time to use worked properly.
