Could you pls explain why you may need MicroChords (multiple chords per beat) in BIAB?

I thought in popular music, at most you have one chord per beat. So why MicroChords? Are there any particular songs that use this feature?

Thank you

This was one of the longest and most frequently requested features to add to BIAB. Prior versions were limited to four chords per measure, and with certain limitations to the rhythms allowed.

While you could ask BIAB to play a chord earlier than a given beat, what they call a Push, you could not then have another chord on that same original beat. Here's a simple example: many songs require a chord on the 'and' of beat four, and then another chord on beat one of the next measure. Now you can do that, and much more.

BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

This, plus now you can add in chords to create a transition. You could add a short run of chords on the last beat of the bar to "walk" up or down to the next bar basically. The nice thing is that you can specify which instruments follow it so as to make it sound more natural - example, it would be weird for a guitar to play different chords on 16th notes, but could sound great with just the bass and piano.

It also allows different bits to be played by various instruments. For example: when playing in a live band it is very common for two guitars to be playing subtle differences. One guitar staying pretty much to the chord and the other doing little fiddly bits within the chord here and there. Not everyone playing the exact same chord at the same time. Using MicroChords it is possible to add those bits.

Using MicroChords adds a whole new level.

It is also possible to add emphasis in various parts by one or more instruments.

Just a thought

Tony

Also, a lot of very slow songs will have 8th or 16th note chord changes. Microchords finally allows you to notate them properly.
