What is the exception?

Dear 'firesong'...

For me, the sole exception would be 'outside' forces over which one has no control, that intervene to change a person's behavior because he/she cannot protect themselves from such sudden and destructive ruptures in their lives. I am thinking mostly of children (innocents) who live in spirit-withering conditions due to grievous dysfunctions in their family life.
