This is a song I wrote some time ago. I did the 2 vocals and BIAB did all the backing tracks. I guess this would be in the country genre. Below is the link to the song, BIAB Song Summary and lyrics in SOUNDCLOUD. I've also included the Song Summary and lyrics below. Your feedback is welcomed, thanks.

“THE CUL-DE-SAC CUTIE”
Words and Music by Allan Judd

There's a new woman here in the neighborhood
No kids, no pets, no spouse, so far so good
A fine looking lady maybe in need of a man
I'm gonna find out the scoop as fast as I can

She's got an angel's voice, she's got curve appeal
If looks were lunch she'd be a gourmet meal
It'll make it my business to give her the tour
After all what are neighbors for

She's the cul-de-sac cutie and I feel it my duty to show her around
I know each and every nook and each and every cranny in this old town
We can paint it all the colors she wants or even turn it upside down
It's much too hard to see all the possibilities

Guitar solo . . .

A fantasy sets in watching her wash the car
I'll take a few minutes write a play, she could be the star
Now I'm thinking she came here from Heartbreak Hotel
I could be the medicine she needs to get well

From a small cup of sugar to herbal tea
She can borrow what she wants from me
There's a welcome sign on my front door
After all what are neighbors for

Chorus

Guitar break . . .

I'll be neighborly, I'll be neighborly kind
I've got a recipe with just her and me in mind

She's the cul-de-sac cutie and I feel it my duty to show her around
I know each and every nook and each and every cranny in this old town
We can paint it all the colors she wants or even turn it upside down
She's the cul-de-sac cutie and I feel it my duty to show her around

Allan,

A clever write. (a lot of words to get in at that tempo)

Vocals are well done.
Good BAND. The drums could be considerably louder (to give even more drive to the band).
Rest of the mix is good.

Hello Allan
Cool mix
Very good background track
The vocals are excellent
The drums could maybe be mixed a little louder
But I am not sure
This would have to be tested
Really good work
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

Yeah, it's hard to keep so many words sounding musical. I've tried, I know. You did a good job with it, all things considered. All the elements sound good. Nice job all the way around.

Fun song, nice write. Slapback guitar and lyrics helped give it that retro sound.

Good production as well.

Is that a key change on the chorus?

Enjoyed the listen.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Allan.
this is a very "cutie" song.
really enjoyed it. includeing lead at 1/09.

LOVED THE SONG AND THE CAR PIC.
riddle me this...why is senior mgt at GM not smart to realise the world loves those 50s style cars.
everyone i know around the world wants one.
if they could churn them out at affordeable prices to the working man they would sell billions worth imho.

back to the song. i found i wanted to play it again.
very nice "cute" job.

Thanks for the comments, David.

I don't remember doing a key change in this song. I think the following verses go right back to the same chords as the 1st verse.

Thanks for the kind comments. I had a 65 white Mustang - great looking car. I also would like to have back my 90 Honda CRX that got 52 miles to a gallon of gas.

What great lyrics:

If looks were lunch she'd be a gourmet meal
It'll make it my business to give her the tour
After all what are neighbors for

Neat driving beat throughout. Cool song.

It's a really bopping song.
You've assembled a good band & mixed them well.
Your vocal is really cool but it does need a serious bit of de-essing to get that aggressive whistle under control.

Cheers

Interesting lyric. Well sung.

ROKAMER.STY is an even style and every instrument you listed plays even. I'm not sure how you managed to create a backing track with that style and those instruments and render it in swing. Perhaps you could enlighten me. smile

Cool idea for a song, Allan. A real mover for sure. I like the harmony, and you did a great job fitting those words into the tempo and still keeping them understandable. The lyrics are very clever. Catchy chorus.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks for the kind words. I worked hard on this song and had to rewrite the chorus several times. You got to love BIAB. It's an amazing backup band.

I'll have to check out the vocal more closely. I'm really not that great at mixing. It's something I need to work on.
