Thought I'd try composing a little Lite Pop music in 2022 so I wrote this song. I don't really have a pop voice but I do like the way it came out.

https://youtu.be/RzoWHeSPVj4

Style:
Keeper Acoustic Rock Trio
Of course I added a lot of additional instruments :-)

Bass: Electric Funk
Organ: B3
Drums: Nashville Even
Guitar 1: Acoustic Rhythm
Guitar 2: 12 String Electric Strumming
Guitar 3: Electric Soloist
Guitar 4: Electric 12 String Rhythm, Modern
Piano: Acoustic Held Chords
Synth: Rhythm Pop Bells
Synth Pad: Pop Believe

Hardware: Same old stuff. Tascam DP32 for vocal recording on this one, Shure PG-42 Mic, Sonar for the DAW, assorted plug-ins (Antares, Cakewalk, Sonitus, iZotope Nectar, CLA Vocals, etc..)

Yes, this was indeed a surprise (a pleasant surprise). Definitely a change up for you. The song is terrific. I think the vox are too low. I know that's subjective, but I kept turning up my volume. See what others have to say.

Again, a terrific song and always a pleasure to hear you sing!

Hello Henry
This is absolute extra class
The song is great
But TuneMonger is right
The vocals are mixed too weak
I would change that
Because this song quality is already upper class
Excellent work, Henry
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

That was cool!
You always deliver on the vocals.
Pop enough for me.

Hi Henry,

Good sounding Pop song and well produced.

The vocals are way too far back in the distance for my tastes.

Would love to hear a remix.

Best Regards
Nigel

I'm also on the "moar upfront vocals, please" train.

Driving rhythm, poppy sound, sparkling harmonies.

Love the hand claps and giant reverb - I didn't expect the break. Pure ear candy! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Cool song.
We agree with what's said about the vocals.
And you do have a very good voice as we said replying on the "I just heard Band-in-a-Box on YouTube" forum.
You don't have to be modest about it blush

Sensational composition, bright, and an excellent example of the style you set out to deliver.

I agree that the vocals should be brought to the front of the mix a little more.

Knockout harmonies. Overall, a fantastic write.

Henry,
Excellent composition. Harmonies are A+. Fun use of FX. I agree with comments, that vocals are a little distant, otherwise great stuff. Thank you for sharing.

A great song and sound, Henry. You must be doing this as a professional because you certainly have the voice for it. Great mix and a great production. Well done.

Wow, Mr. Henry, you've done it again. This is a top notch production and arrangement with stellar vocals and background vocals. I like this song and it has a nice sing-a-long feel to it. Great job.

Great vocals and a nice Hall & Oates groove.

Nice arrangement, great band and the intro of the claps worked well.

Excellent use of your performances and BiaB tracks.

Well done!!!

Henry,

This is great. I actually heard a John Mayer vibe here, from the second, third album era.

If I had just heard it walking into a room, I might have thought it was him.

That is a high compliment. Love it.

Mr. Clarke...

'Just Another Lonely Night' is a remarkable example of how an energized and upbeat musical arrangement can make fairly downbeat, blue-and-bruised lyrics sound less sad and more hopeful than you may possibly have intended!

Right before ending, the rhythmic transition from your percussion track to handclaps was inspired and ear-pleasing, too.

I like the vocal level & effect.
In my headphones, the voice seems to lean to the right a little.
Some of the plosives/sibilance could be dealt with.

Cheers

Thanks all for the kind comments and constructive feedback. I must admit when I mix a song I demo the song primarily on my phone and in my cars (Cadillac and Jaguar) and it usually sounds pretty good. I don't know. Maybe it's because they have so many speakers .. LOL Also it could because of my "old senior ears" :-) I will keep trying to improve in vocal placement. Thanks again !!

Very nice melodic pop song, catchy and well mixed, very good singing and the band supports it well. Cool effects for drums and vocals at the break part.
