All Those Years Ago

This is mostly a guitar song for the simple reason I couldn't think of any more lyrics eek

The Band:

~425:Organ, B3, Background Blues Sw 120
421:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Blues Sw 120

Marty Straub from BabuMusic is on bass and I'm playing the guitar leads. I had also recorded a rhythm guitar part, but I liked the BIAB guy better so used him instead wink

I used EZDrummer2 for the drums, blues set from Groove Monkee

Mixed in Reaper, mastered with Ozone.

All those Years Ago - 2022, Dave Bell

Another place, another time
I never saw the sign
It was a long, long time ago, down in Tupelo
It seemed I was the last to know, all those years ago

People come and people go now
Time marches, never slow
You're Just a memory trapped in time, a poem with no rhyme
It seemed I was the last to know, all those years ago

Chorus:
You're just a memory trapped in time
A poem with no rhyme.
All those years ago,
Down in Tupelo

All comments welcome!

This one really comes out of the chute full of energy. Grabbed me right away. I've gotten major mileage out of that RT 421 (Jack Pearson), it's a good one and very versatile. Vocals are good and the playing is great. Excellent work, gentleman.

BA,

Great opening! That guitar gets to talkin' right away! Cool organ, too.

Killer guitar throughout. Marty's bass is golden...Buttery - Love it!

Your vocals are cool.

Mix is good, of course.

Much enjoyed the listens.

Team,
No need for fancy lyrics, this speaks "music" very fluently. Dave wild guitar work. Marty super bass. You produce very coherent tunes, like you played for years together. Good vibe and excellent mix. I am re-discovering Groove Monkee too. Neat and very reasonably priced libraries. Thank you for sharing.

A really very good mix
The sound is very good
Just like the matching vocals
Marty does his thing as usual sovereign and very good
Your guitar solos are extremely good
the guitar sound is absolutely top class
What technique do you use to get the Guitarsound

Great work guys
Many greetings

Hi Dave,

This is my kinda music.

Excellent guitar work.

Not sure why your voice is so far in the background - you have a good voice and you sing in tune. I would like to hear it more upfront.

Best Regards
Nigel

I always thought blues were an excuse for guitar players to do a lot of soloing.

This pretty much proves me right!

You and the band - even the Marty! wink - sound great

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

GREAT GEETAR PLAYING.
only thing i felt was maybe just make the lead a smidge cleaner.
irrespective superb musical talent displayed in this song.
also liked the organ and the subtle rhythm playing on one side of the stereo image.

Yeah man. THAT shuffle!

Great performances by both of you. Vocal sounded fine in the mix to us.
And, no surprise, every thing about the mix is high bar.

Bud really wishes when he runs out of words he could pick up the guitar and do half what you do.

Y'all got that Tony Joe kinda dark swampy vibe going ... and that is excellent in our book.

Enjoyed it!!!

I just have the three blues sets from Groove Monkee, two of which are really useful for the type of music I do. One of these days I'll pick up a couple of their other offerings, always nice to have options wink

Thank you, Misha!

Nothing extraneous in this mix. It all fits together wonderfully well.
Have always admired your guitar work and it's very nicely complemented by Marty's bass. Well done guys. smile

Sweet guitar, Dave. I remember when you first sent me this song. Then later figured you'd trash it because it was more of a guitar song. HA! I really like your singing voice --it's so engaging, but your guitars always shine to the top. This song is way too good to lose. Like every one of the songs you sing, this one ends with a very catchy earworm.

Enjoy whatever happens!

A very cool song. You play the hell out that electric guitar. The crew provides good support. I like the easy vocals and simple lyrics. No muss, no fuss. Good stuff.
