Hi, I play 6 string guitar a lot in open D tuning. Therefore I like the bass guitar to play a low D note. When I play a groove in D (just bass and drums), BIAB doesn't play the low D on the bass guitar, but rather the octave above as if it's playing a 4 string electric bass guitar tuned normal to low E. I suppose that makes sense but I want to transpose the bass to low D. Been at it for hours trying to figure a way. I'd appreciate some help. Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the forum. I know you can specify the lowest bass note if you don't want it to be a low E, and of course a guitar is written an octave above what it sounds, but I don't know if the adjustment you want can be made for guitar. I'll take a look.
The bass adjustment is in Options, Preferences, Arrange, Lowest Bass Note (defaults to E2, so try D2). And there are some adjustments in Options, Preferences, Notation but I haven't found this one yet. There is a Preferences, Guitar dialog I've actually never looked at before (I play horns) but I don't see it.
--------------------
Guitarists: how do you set up BIAB for this? DADGAD is common enough, along with other tunings ...
--------------------
If it's a MIDI part, it's easy enough to edit the note in the wrong range. Just be sure to Freeze the track unless you are working in the Melody or Soloist track.
If it's a RealTrack guitar part, it's possible now in BIAB version 2022 to use what is called Playable RealTracks and change the register of the note.

Are you using RealTracks or MIDI? If MIDI what is your sound source?
If you are using RealTracks you would have to use pitch correction software, BiaB's pitch correction may work but I don't know for sure. You would have to lower each note to D. Any monophonic pitch correction program will work. You may get some note artifacts.
It is easily done in MIDI. Go to either the piano roll view or the notation view and lower each note to D. If you are using BiaB's included GM sounds you are good to go. But if you are using another sound source you must make sure that sound source can go below an E note.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. Pretty sure the bass is a RealTrack, colored green. I guess I can learn to export a wav file from BIAB and import it in to Cubase (my DAW) and transpose a tone down from E but I was hoping to transpose in BIAB. I understand that midi is easy to shift once I get the BIAB hang of it....so I'll see if I can find a suitable groove in midi. Matt I will check out "Playable RealTracks" and report back if I have any luck. Thanks again!

If your RealTrack bass has a line under it then it does come with a MIDI chart that you can use. Also if it does have a line disable your Realtracks and it will play the MIDI part. This will work for you as you only want the bass and drums.
Good luck.

MarioD I've enabled "selected notes to playable" which allows me...far as I tell... to move the notes where I want to without audible interference from the original notes, because they now appear to be one and the same in the midi grid. But I can only move them one at a time even when I select all. Any advice on how to select and move all at the same time?

Lasso, highlight, all of the C notes that you want to change to a D. Press and hold down the shift key while you grab one note and drag it down. All of the other selected notes will also move to a D.
Note that this only works in the piano roll view. It does not work in the editable notation view.
If you are working with Realtracks then someone else needs to help you. I rarely use Realtracks.
I hope this helps.
PS - I just learned this. I rarely work in BiaB as I go to my DAW as soon as I can.
