Hi om Look at the Zoom G3X. (Not the G3 or the 'n' version) I used one a while, loaded with a bank of Shadows effects patches until I bought an ultra simple Joyo ACTone Vox amp sim and put my patches onto an AlesisQ2. It also has a very good swell pedal (option to disable if not of use in yr kind of music but brilliant for mine.) What WAS useful was that it will run off AA batteries as well as mains which was perfect in the pre-Covid days as I could rock up and simply plug my G3X into their backline / PA or whatever without masses of gear and cables and hassle. Those days are gone and I realised that MY kind of music just didnt need 22 amp sims (who does??) and tons of effects so it was made redundant. Still have it, as new, boxed - just in case - -. Lol. The spec is here - https://www.zoom.co.jp/products/guitar/g3x-guitar-effects-amp-simulator-expression-pedalDiscontinued now but a very cheap amp/effects unit if budget is important. I tried to sell it on Fleabag for well under £100 and no bidders so it's a Heritage piece now. Bests Ian

i used a zoom unit successfully for many years ( hopelessly out of date now) but depends just how much you need in the way of fx. like ian i realized i don't need that many and only used five or six patches when i was playing. even my basic zoom had several amp sims and cab options. the unit i always fancied but never bought is the behringer v-amp.............

A 508 maybe? Small in stature but back in the day was big on effects. C2006 I replaced mine with a Zoom2000 effects unit. Still got it. Lol. Then an Alesis Q2 effects unit came my way at good money and thats what I still use at home. Both still needed an amp sim, hence the Joyo. Bests Ian

I'd happily swap you this info for a proper Northern plate of "Bubble"! lol Longtime too since I had proper plate of Lobby, like what Mother used to make. I'm into KISS. Back in my time in groups and showbands (60s and 70s) we didn't have all this modern gear, neither did the Shads, Ventures or whoever. It was guitar - echo unit - amp back then. And it is today, in its modern iteration - Guitar (Strat) - Alesis Q2 or Zoom2000 (for echo patches) - OCCASIONAL addition of Boss CS-3 for LIGHT compression/sustain - Joyo ACTone (Vox amp sim) and then straight to DAW, Thats it. Nothing is even close to being NEW. lol, The Alesis is getting on for 20 years old. Guitar was hand built in 2006. Kinman FV-H pups, maple neck. Bests ian

The guitar goes into the Alesis/Zoom/G3X. From there it goes to the Joyo and then straight into DAW. Don't use, or seem to need, an AI. I guess with the right effects selected/programmed it would be guitar to G3X to DAW but I never used the amp Sims on it, preferring the Joyo and using the G3X onlybto provide the echo patterns. Don't worry about The Hammers. Don't follow football at all Bests Ian

Don’t really know what you’re looking for.
When I perform I use an audio interface into a laptop. My guitar plugs into the laptop via the audio interface. On the laptop I have Overloud TH-U guitar amp sim. Also plugged into the laptop I have a Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Foot controller. In TH-U I use what they call the RIG Player which is basically a way of setting up a guitar amp using impulse responses.
I have a number of “Stomp” boxes set up (auto wah, 2 x delays, reverb, overdrive, tremolo, phaser and also a mute button) using the FCB 1010. I also have a Volume pedal and a pedal to control the auto wah speed (= 2 x expression pedals).
I could set up many more options but that is all I use. I have Guitar Rig Set up on a different level in the FCB 1010 but I don’t use it.
I am able to set the volume of the amp sim to blend with my backing tracks on the same laptop. I sit there and play with full control the way I see it.
There are many versions of Overloud TH-U that enable one to set up for their needs. I have the full version of TH-U but it stems from using the product for many years and just ending up that way. MIDI Foot controllers are not really all that expensive once again price varies on what option you want.
Setting up TH-U and the foot controller is fairly simple. It all works fine for me.
My thoughts
Tony

DEB. the only way to know if effective is to try one... with your own rig. also note some daws have a noise reducer plug in included.. eg reaper. TEUNIS. cheers..i'll check into the THU. but i'm kinda sceptical bout plug in daw amp stuff. ive found they are ok for clean sounds , but often fall down on classic overdriven stuff. Six. thanks. my lovely wife said "i'll buy the joyo for you". huge hearted woman. i'm a lucky bloke. heres a little challenge for you....its a bit of a cpu heavy free geetar plug in called "freeamp". https://www.kvraudio.com/product/free_amp_by_fretted_synth_audiowould be curious if you could get those classic tones out of it....eg shads its a vst plug in. ive had some happy accidents with it and sometimes combining with other plug ins. but a fast cpu is needed. best om

I have a Digitech RP355, which is no longer in production. Being that our targeted audience is +55 years old, I don't need all the amp sims and FX this has to offer.
I get by with the Twin Reverb and AC30 amp sims, some compression, fuzz, and wah. There is so much more. I suspect Digitech has a newer model.

I am looking at this: Noise killer What are your opinions about this or a similar product? Thanks! ...Deb Hi Deb, The question is what kind of noise are you trying to kill? Is it like a P90 guitar noise? Or a strat single pickup noise? Or something else.

It is the 60 cycle hum. Dirty electricity, imho. I've changed cables and tried HumX from EbTech.

...Deb Have you located the source of the hum? If it is from your guitar(s) then yes a noise gate pedal will work. But if the hum isn't from your guitar(s) then a noise gate pedal will not work. Here are a couple of articles that may help: https://bikehike.org/how-to-eliminate-60-cycle-hum/https://www.samash.com/spotlight/60-cycle-hum/Maybe a power conditioner with enough outlets so you can plug all of your equipment in to it i.e. amp, computer, near field monitors, etc. I use two Furman RackRiders. They are older models, back when they weren't so expensive. The new model of it is Furman M-8x2 Merit X Series M-8x2 Power Conditioner: https://www.amazon.com/Power-Conditioners/b?node=11975661I hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks! It does help.
Thing I haven't tried is to see if the source is my pedals. I am going to attempt them with the Hum X and see if it helps. And, of course, play the guitar with only my amps.

Deb, there are many good gates available to cut out the hum. The real trick is to make sure you don’t turn them up too much and lose quieter notes which can make things sound a bit odd. In my case the product (TH-U) I use has a gate built in and one can get shy of all the hum and I cut out below -60dB or so which does the trick. Some other pedals have gates built in. I would look around at various gates. The Noise Killer is highly rated. See https://producerhive.com/buyer-guides/guitar-pedals/best-noise-gate-pedals/Tony

Thing I haven't tried is to see if the source is my pedals. I used to record electric guitar through several stomp boxes and whenever possible would power a box with battery rather than AC adapter, for that reason.
