OK, when I recommended using the 208i ASIO drivers I did not know about the PC speakers (sorry).

In RB, if you change to MME for Driver type you should be able to select the 208i for Input and the desired Windows driver for output.

This is not optimal, but appears to work for you in other apps.
Mind you some more 'advanced' features of RB may not work as expected, due to latency, but for your described need seems to be the only option.
These would include things like trying to use a software Amp Sim in real time.
To do stuff like that you would likely need to switch to ASIO and listen thru the 208i.
Or playing a software synth in real time from a keyboard/controller; same issue would occur.
But for your workflow currently this should work.

Here is how to get those drop down menus to show.
1-when the drop down menu is on your screen hold down the shift key and then press the PrtScr key: that means print screen
2- open either a photographic program or paint
3-press paste
4-using either crop or your snipping tool and select the area you want to post
5-save said area as a jpg then attach it to your post.
I do this all of the time.

When you are at the checkout line and they ask if you found everything say "Why, are you hiding stuff?"

MarioD, thanks for the PrtScr tip, I'm sure I'll use that tip going forward.

But for this issue it's a moot point. Audacity is working fine for me and even it has features I will probably never use, plus their development team is constantly improving it. As long as it continues to do what I need I'm good.

If at some point Audacity fails me I might take another look at RealBand. But at this time, I can't justify any more time trying to get RB to work; too many details in that software to deal with. I'd much rather spend my time getting better with BiaB, producing my next recording for SoundCloud and down-selecting a bass tab notation program.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.
