Cool tune that many can relate with.

Was that style Doom cello?

I echo Floyd's comments.

Regarding the topic... I think we all had such feelings that we wanted someone so badly..... However.... Time has a way of showing us otherwise. I've had the chance several times through the years to meet again someone i knew back in the day. So, so glad it worked out the way it did. You gotta believe that there is a God who's looking out for us fools sometimes.

Good song

Edit: one more thing. Usually, the title is somewhere in the song. Not the case with this.

<<We think many of us recognise what's told in the story.
<<We hope you got over it

That's so sweet, RnAM, but it's (thankfully) not autobiographical. I made it up in my little old imagination.

Glad you liked the cello, that's good to know. I was thinking about changing it but now I'm on the fence about it.

<<We felt the contrast of the cello in a real rocker was very effective.

Thanks, J&B, that's one more vote FOR the cello. Some haven't liked it, and I'm considering changing it. So that's good to know you liked it.

<< I like the contrast between the cello and the guitars, great job on that. Great dynamics and mix. Two thumbs up

Thanks, Mario, that's one more vote FOR the cello. Some haven't liked it. As to the dynamics, it was a lot of work getting that right. I know for many DAW wizards it wouldn't have been a big deal, but for an amateur like me it was a lot to do. I still have to work on getting the vocal's volume right as Floyd mentioned (and Herb agreed with).

Still a good song and the vocalist was fine though I would have liked to hear a "rougher" edge to his voice. I think if he had that he would have lifted the song ever higher. Just my thoughts.

Thanks, Henry! I think you're right. Jamie is a metal guy and I think he did a great job. But my first choice was a guy on fiverr with a very Bob Seger like voice. However, that guy wants three times the fee that Jamie charges. I am tempted to go ahead and spend the dough, we'll have to see.

Thanks, Herb. For some reason, I was thinking you weren't going to like this. Probably because you've submitted some hard rockers in the past with live guitars and your standards might be a little higher than most. Doom cello? You sent me scrambling to BIAB to look that one up. I found a RS called Doomsday but unfortunately the cello wasn't any Doom-ier than the one I used. I may hire someone to play an edgier cello intro, we'll see.

I used the DoomCello style for the song I did called Under the Black. It sounded similar to what you're doing in this one.

Here's the one I did using the DC style... https://soundcloud.com/guitarhacker/under-the-black/s-uEQ34eUZiTe?si=103772a005654990ba1343897d033b41&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

Much concern about that cello!

Personally, all I heard as a bit of a problem is that it sounds like it was recorded separately. Of course, it was, but it shouldn't sound like it was. Fancy reverb might be helpful here, applying an acoustic environment so it sounds like they're all in the same place.

That is awesome, Herb, my new favorite from you! Parts of it sound like Kashmir. Quite a production.

Hi TuneMonger,

I noticed I'm a bit late around here.
A lot of good comments I can agree with.
A nice build-up of this rock song and the vocals are good.
I liked the intro a lot!

I only noticed that the song is losing a bit of it's dynamic somewhere in the middle. And the singer had to struggle to continue through that moment. Maybe if some leadguitar entered there or even a rhythm guitar has done something extra strumming there, it keeps the attention more in that part.
But, I admit, that is for sure a matter of taste.

Very well done!
Hans

Quite nice hard rock tune, good combination of the cello and rock guitars and powerful singer, giving the song unique sound, reminds me bit of Pearl Jam and grunge. Sort of relatable lyrics, although I wouldn't want a happy ending but something more creepy instead...at least some kind of unsuccessful contact with her.
