I discovered something in mixing this one. I always use headphones while making my mixes. For grins I played this arrangement thru inexpensive desktop speakers and yes, the bass nearly saturates them. I then listened thru a set of high quality Klipsch towers and like the headphones the mix is pleasant.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

The art of mixing is the ability to get a mix that sounds good across the board on a variety of systems.

If you haven't got a bunch of different systems, you can try something like this, which allows you to listen to the mix in an emulated environment, so you can see how well it translates to other systems.

Then again, almost everyone uses earbuds, so you could just target those. wink

Nice jam!

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

David, thanks for the compliment. This is my most complex arrangement to-date, I think the organ voice is central.

If you have a step-by-step procedure for producing a quality melody with the Melodist/Melody Maker . . . do share. I can't get it to produce a quality melody. An audio example or two with a procedure would also be useful.

You're right, Thumper. Every studio I've ever been in or seen has several different speaker configurations. The rule used to be if it sounds good in a cheap car, you got it right. Your bass sounds great --even in my car. hehe Cool jam. If it's not too much trouble, in the future could you post the Biab stuff. Here's a hint copied from the opening page of User Showcase: (tip: In Band-in-a-Box, the Song Memo contains the names of the RealTracks used, and you can copy/paste from that). Sometimes it helps others in their creations. If it's not accessible, no problem. I still like listening to what you post.

Klipsch towers behind me and Klipsch speakers on my desk with the subwoofer on the floor. That's how I can tell your bass is very clean sounding and you place it perfectly in the mix.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks Mike, I see you like jazz. What do you think of Paul Hardcastle?

And on "Our Dreams Came True" is that a xylophone?
