I'm trying to move a few 2009.5 SGU song files over to 2010 without any luck. I'm using the Audiophile version and BIAB is launched from the USB drive. I moved four 2009.5 SGU files to my desktop for easy reference and copied them over to the songs folder within 2010. After attempting to open them, I received the error message: You either need an Admin account to run or set permissions of Band-in-a-Box folder to Read/Write. see www.pgmusic.com/mac2.htm. Error:external filesystem I followed the link and the first step after download update patch (which I didn't think I needed to do) is: Click on the /Applications/Band-in-a-Box folder, and go to File | Get Info, or press Command-I. I have no sub folder within the BIAB folder that's named "File". I have subfolders named "Data, DragDrop, Drums...." etc. So, I can't complete this step. Under applications on my Mac Drive I have a BIAB Folder and a subfolder "data", that seems to be related to 2009.5 and nothing for 2010, which may be my problem. I did launch 2010 and it seems to be working ok, but I'm lost on moving the previous version files. At this point, I'm almost ready to just redo the songs within 2010 and move on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, John

Hello John,
Those instructions are referring to the File menu, not a folder. But you're right, you shouldn't need to do that. I'm not sure why you would get an error like that when opening a song file, but I wouldn't suggest doing them over - there will be a better solution. Can you tell us when exactly you get the error message?

Andrew, The error prompt comes when I click to open the song file within BIAB. My first step was to move my SGU Files created with BIAB 2009.5 to my Desktop. I then unplugged the USB Drive and Power supply and plugged them into the 2010 USB Drive. I powered up and launched 2010 from the Mac Finder. On the Setup, I chose not to copy the files to the Mac drive and I chose accept the New Fonts. I copied the SGU files from the desktop to the song folder in 2010 and opened BIAB and the song files were listed. I clicked to open the file and that's where I received the error prompt: You either need an Admin account to run or set permissions of Band-in-a-Box folder to Read/Write. see www.pgmusic.com/mac2.htm. Error:external filesystem When I click ok, it opens a chord sheet with a title of "#$%&" and fills with random chords that have nothing to do with the original. It does however play. When I highlight the SGU file before clicking to open it, the info reads: Title.________________ Size: 60KB Kind: Alias

Hello John,
It sounds like you have made aliases to the original files, rather than copy the files themselves. In other words you created an alias to the file, put it on your desktop, then removed the original file (by unplugging the hard drive).
Instead, highlight the files in Finder (on the 2009 disk) and use the 'Edit menu | Copy & Paste' to put them on the desktop (or drag the files there). Then attach the 2010 disk, and you should be able to open the files in Band-in-a-Box 2010. If you want, you could copy them to the Songs folder on the 2010 disk, but that's not necessary - you could leave them on your Mac hard drive if you want.
