Thanks for your so complete answer, David! I use Melodyne occasionally for the background vocals. In my last song (After All v6) it worked out very nice. I never use it on my own voice. I also never use pitch corretion, maybe one of these yearsI have to...
Cheers, Hans

Another outstanding offering. I didn't hear the original so this is my first spin of the record. Very well written song. The girls perform your material wonderfully, yet again. The band is great too. Thanks, Sean!

Janice said she teared up when first hearing that.
It is a most outstanding write in lyric and melody. That's the best I could hope to hear! Thanks! The vocal is as Janice said "sweet and fragile sounding and it conveys the lyric so well." I'm glad it worked for Janice. I know there's a huge gap between what a real singer could do, but I think the technology is to the point where it's able to make a fair approximation of what the song should be. I'd originally used the AVANNA Vocaloid to sing this, and she's got a very ethereal voice. But the Vocaloid wasn't really up to the task of being understandable, to say nothing about emoting. This comes a lot closer to what I had in mind, I find that I'm able to shape the phrasing - or at least the timing - a lot more than I could would the Vocaloid. This is what you do and it is very entertaining musically and technically.
We've heard a zillion great voices and love them but this journey you are on is fascinating. And it just gets better and better and better... Thanks for that. It's an interesting tool, and it helps me do things that I'd ordinarily have a lot of difficulty doing if I was restricted to using my own voice. Probably the worst thing about using it is that it makes it so much harder to work on my own vocal synthesis program, since I'm light-years away from being able to achieve in terms of quality. But it sure helps in getting more songs done!

Very nice melody with well written lyrics. The trumpet is really very realistic. Well done. I apprecied. Hi, Derochette. Since half the trumpet is a real trumpet, that's a good good to hear. But hopefully it's difficult to tell which half is which! Thanks for stopping to comment!

Beautiful song, everything about it is great, what a mix. Hi, Ronnie. I'm happy to hear that. I'm always tweaking the mix, but hopefully it's not too far from where it needs to be at this point. Thanks for the kind words!

Beautiful song, David. You are very good at tuning. I can only hope I will reach your level one day. Hi, Will. Don't worry - between and increasing ease of use and better AI, each iteration of SynthV seems to be getting better and better with less and less effort. In the future I think we will discuss realism of an AI-voice less - focus will be on the timbre, expression, soulfulness and feel of a voice (or of the real singer who is behind the voice). Yes, it'll be interesting to see what kind of control we'll have over the voices. I suspect that anyone who already knows how to sing - even badly - will have a leg up on that. Much like even knowing a little bit about how to play an instrument allows you to create better mock-up using samples. Thanks for commenting!

I use Melodyne occasionally for the background vocals. In my last song (After All v6) it worked out very nice. I never use it on my own voice. I also never use pitch correction, maybe one of these years I have to... For me, using pitch correction is a bit of a crutch. It's always best to go back and sing it right. Sometimes I just get lazy. Or I'll decide after the fact that I want to change the phrasing, so I'll just time-stretch my vocals instead of singing them again. And because we're so used to hearing over-tuned vocals, I suspect that makes it easier to accept computer generated vocals. That is, after being so used to having the life squashed out of vocals by auto-tuning them, digital vocals with pitch issues start to almost sound more human than human vocals!
