Problem is - music is rather subjective. I like Johnny Cash, Eminem, Johann Strauss, Bach, etc. I am also on the board of an orchestra.
Would have the fans supported a string quartet for the Halftime show? Probably not. And no matter who they chose for the Halftime show someone would not have been happy.
I believe it was a long time coming - it should have happened sooner. Hip Hop has been around long enough that some performers have been accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Article has some surprisingly positive remarks about compression, which you kind of need lots of if you’re a string trio playing a stadium. Anyway, think I’ll jump in and mention that I, too, didn’t watch the game. I do hope this thread isn’t just an attempt to troll up cultural grievances.
