An update on this. I've never really gotten to the bottom of what was happening, but I did some more experimenting involving lots of trying to find out why BiaB was not recognising VSTSynthFont64 as a valid VST, without any convincing conclusion. However, doing lots of trial VST scans, many of which resulted in crashed BiaB and removed VST exclusions reappearing, even after saving, exiting and restarting BiaB, looking into the flash message logs and trying to see what was changing, I tried removing another Synth/tool location (SynthFont2) from the scan, obscuring the VSTSynthFont64 that was giving the problem by appending a .bk and ensuring that BiaB looked at the copy in its own bb/Data/libx64 folder. That now was recognised and worked. I then obscured it similarly and copied an unobscured new version also into the bb/Data/libx64. I tried again and again it recognised it and used it. I'm now able to set VSTSynthFont64 as the VSTi/DXi Synth in the MIDI/Audio setup windows and things now work as they should. The default synth works, I don't get two instruments on tracks with plugins. I attach extracts of before and after Flash Message logs if anyone at PGM thinks it's worth digging further. Great to hear you have the VSTSynthFont64 working, Gordon! It sounds like what could have happened was the program was preferring the other SynthFont2 and removing it helped.

Great to hear you have the VSTSynthFont64 working, Gordon! It sounds like what could have happened was the program was preferring the other SynthFont2 and removing it helped. I have found VSTSynthFont64 and SynthFont2 to be incompatible with BIAB on my machine. I settled on VSTSynthFont64 and deleted the other. I never mentioned it cause I felt it was just my inability to sus it all out. But maybe there is something there. Lesson learned setup one or the other and leave well enough alone.

I have found VSTSynthFont64 and SynthFont2 to be incompatible with BIAB on my machine. I settled on VSTSynthFont64 and deleted the other. Hmm ... sounds like we found the same issue, then. I'd been planning to compare them, but never managed to get SynthFont2 to work at all, perhaps due to that conflict. Lesson learned setup one or the other and leave well enough alone. This video demonstrates how to use the new AI-Notes feature together with the AI-Stems splitter, allowing you to select an audio file and have it separated into individual stems while transcribing each one to its own MIDI track. AI-Notes converts polyphonic audio—either full mixes or individual instruments—into MIDI that you can view in notation or play back instantly.
