Noel

A wonderful uplifting song. Something we can all use these days.

Lovely performance and a nice band to accompany it.

I love that chorus! Nice build with the chorus before the end, beautiful slow down,

All done with teaching? I've got another few years to go.

Lovely uplifting song Noel. Perfect timing especially with all the craziness going on in the world these days. Super vocal and lyric. Well done.

Hi Marty.

Thanks! And the trombone comedy routine was definitely A+ material. The guy had the whole class laughing their hearts out. Sometimes laughter is definitely the best medicine. That was certainly true of remote learning.

Thanks for the comment on the shaker, too. Others have also mentioned that so clearly it's something that I need to revisit.

All the best and thanks again,
Noel

Noel,

Nice to hear a new one from you.
As always, I'm impressed with your positiveness.
It's a simple but very beautiful melody.
Your vocal fits this song very well.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Hi Rob and Anne-Marie,

Thanks for visiting! I appreciate your comments. Now if only I could sing half as well as both of you, I'd have it made smile

While I sometimes sing my backing vocals these days, in this case, I owe all my thanks to Realband. It was RB's harmonizer that did all the work.

All the very best,
Noel

I really liked the echo on the chorus. Harmony was nice as well.

On the critical side, the mix felt quiet. I kept boosting up the volume. It could just be that you aren't playing the same volume wars that the rest of us are.

Hi David.

Thanks for dropping in and taking the time to listen and pass on your thoughts. Much appreciated.

I do tend to write songs that are sentimental so I understand where you are coming from smile In this case, though, because I intended to share the song with my students, it was important that the message was positive.

Thanks for that thought about the mix feeling quiet. After a week or two has passed, and the sound of the song has faded in my head, I'll go and have another listen. It may well be that I haven't yet got the best possible output. (Because mixing and I have a kind of love-hate relationship, it's more that possible that I need to fine tune some things.)

All the best,
Noel

Trev

Hey Trev.

It's good to see you. Thanks for the visit.

When I put this together, I always kept in mind that I'm someone who's old enough to be a grandfather to my students so, as a granddad, what advice could I pass on... and it needed to be positive?

The thing I've learnt from teaching is that one should never underestimate the power of what is said to students. Sometimes students catch a phrase or an idea from a teacher, or one another, and that turns out to be very important to them. And in some instances, it's even life-defining.

The power of words was brought home to me by a student long ago. In that long-ago class, one day I mentioned that my son was studying Aerospace Engineering. It was just a fly-by comment I made to something someone said in class. About six years later, I ran into the student from that class and he told me that he was an aerospace engineer and that the reason he started thinking about the course was because I mentioned it in chemistry one day.

So who knows... maybe some of the words in this song will matter to someone someday smile

Thanks again for passing through the thread.

Deceptively simple tune (very catchy) that makes and ideal vehicle for a great lyric. Well done.

G'day mate....

Your unique writing style is always a pleasure to listen to.

When I listen to your material it's breezy, carefree and creates a 50's era feeling of childlike innocence.
Making me feel "innocent"!....at 74 I didn't think that remotely possible. smile

Well done Noel!

Carry on....

Hi Charlie,

It's great to see you.

Wow! That's quite a story. Thank you for passing it on. You've got me smiling ear to ear. You've certainly come a long, long way from that first comment. These days, you are my go-to expert on many things to do with BIAB (especially Audio Edit and ACW). When I'm stuck on something, I often hunt down posts of yours that I know I've read. I love your thoroughness in explaining things.

Thank you for making my day!

Hi Noel,

I'm glad you are back. I missed that 'Robin Gibb' vocals of yours. I know you deny it and even told me you don't know who he was, but I heard it again in this very nice song.
You wrote what you did because of covid and I think it has done good things too, like what you wrote. I hoped to hear your (rock) pianoplay, but it wasn't in the song. But it is a cheerful lovely song with good lyrics. And a very good performance!

Like your Ukrain design here!

Noel,
Thank you for sharing behind the scenes story. Wonderful tune all around. Excellent message. One of the best I have heard by you. Very good vocals and harmonies. Arrangement, composition and mix are top tier.
Critical... hmm a tough one. The only thing I can suggest is working on "clap" and "sticks" which sounds a bit midi and dry, while most other elements are acoustic. In any case, it is a VERY good song. Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

Noel,

Good to see you back on the board again. Great to hear that warm, distinctive vocal again. Wonderful write and performance. From a production point stellar, though the shaker is a bit distracting at times, mostly because of where it starts and where it fades out, for me at least . . . and it seems a bit too out in front. An easy thing to tweak if you agree. Love the clapping—nice add! Very sweet tune, Noel!

All my best to you,

Deej
