Spent sometime today looking for a good low priced choir VST. Wow, some beautiful stuff to be found but the prices must be based on the number of folks in the choir. Nothing cheap, even in the ~$100 price range, to be found.

Then I found this for free. It requires the Full version of Kontack. But it has:

2 GB ncw compressed sample pool
Polyphonic Legato
4 mic positions
2+ octaves note range (C2 > E5)
Uuu and mmm female articulation
Custom convolution reverbs
Sampled in a warm concert hall

and it sounds lovely. It was a good day of hunting. grin

They have a fair number of very good libraries. Their Kontakt synths (TimeDrops and Aurora) have flown under the radar for a while and are very cool with character. Aurorror, a free lite version of Aurora is available and there are other Kontakt freebies on the website.

Speaking of freebies for Kontakt full/retail: You may have already known that 8DIO has offered a dozen of its libraries for free but it just recently added one you should not pass up: The New Hybrid Rhythms. VERY full-featured with a lot of grooves (950+) and a LOT of features to let you tweak and freak them. Just click on the "FREE" tab to find it and the other 8DIO freebies.

Never heard of FluffyAudio. Bookmarked.
I just bought their DigHybridoo. I've been looking for a nice Didj for a while.
Their free log drum, similar.

I think I have found it! The most beautiful choir I have yet to hear. I have looked hard for weeks to find these. Why did I not find this sooner? Because, this was just released a few days ago! But before you go any further, I have to warn you. This choir is not free. cry Although, it is on Sale grin but still way above my comfort zone. cry

These are the sounds I am hearing in my head, based on the great choirs I have heard over my life. These are the sound I want to get into my music. Heck, even if my music does not make it out of the confines of my home studio, these sounds are so beautiful that it is worth it just to be able to arrange them, control them and hear them.

Audio Imperia CHORUS, Epic Cinematic Choir

The demo videos are starting to appear on youtube and I am not alone in my excitement. Here is Simeon with the demo:

Sales ends today. I bought it yesterday. Could be the most expensive VST I have ever purchased. But between yesterday and today I am loving the sounds.

It is impressive but a bit too salty for me.

That is impressive! Always looking for background vocals but I need more along the lines of pop, rock, or country. But this might be close. Hope that they make some with less than full choirs.

Ever come across with something along the lines of 2 to 4 backup harmonies for pop, rock or country?

I get ever more impressed by Spitfire Audio.

Not just the superb quality of what they produce, but also the attitude ... it really feels like they're more about the music/sound and the tools, rather than just about making money.

It also seems to me that the people demonstrating the tools really do like what they're demonstrating. It's a sales pitch Jim, but not as we know it. smile

Can I add that Spitfire Audio's support is second to none. Always there to help if you need it and pretty quick to respond as well.

Spitfire's Originals are so good they would still be a bargain if they cost three times as much.

Ya been there and done that. But stopped a long time ago. I am now well invested in VIs.
And by the way, I still am in love with Chorus.
