I am not a great expert on John Lennon. And to be honest I don't really hear any similarities.
But I'm not a very big music expert either.
And with your experience that will probably be true ;-)
As for the war in Ukraine, it is expanding more and more towards the West... and if the war was bad enough until now, it becomes more and more dangerous for all of us ;-((((

Thanks, Andi. I have been so angry about the war in Ukraine I have been unable to write a protest song. I ask the U.S. Embassy Warsaw to issue 3 visas so I could bring a mom and two children to my home in Florida. I would go there to get them. I had in mind to fly to Warsaw and rent a car. Definitely sounds like Scorpions type of anthemic rock ballad (reminding me Wind Of Change and breaking of the Berlin wall), hopefully one day to celebrate freedom for Ukrainians on their Victory Day in Kiev. Good rock arrangement, guitars and vocals work very well.

Andi, what an emotional and poignant song
Everything is perfect in this mix
Lyrics like
"the smoke of death now blows through the streets
the people stand together and fight - no retreat
is it not insane ?
that one man brings them so much pain ?"
really hit home.
How can the free world stand by and let this madman kill so many civilians, especially when virtually Ukrainian able to fight is fighting for their country? Bombing hospitals, apartment complexes, people trying to leave the county, etc is extremely tough to witness.
This is your best to date IMHO
Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

I can only hope that all my friends are still alive
I could already welcome a few friendly mothers with their children and they are also well taken care of. My sister was able to arrange accommodation for them. However, the fathers are still in Ukraine...

Aside from the immediate and instant feelings of horror and things that seem obvious, I have a hard time commenting on our current climate of constant and widespread political mayhem and evil. It is all so intertwined with multiple layers of corruption.
I remember when I was a kid they used to tell me: "Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive."
Looks like our world is getting the worst of it right now.
Maybe, at some point, all of the ordinary people across the world will see what is going on in their own backyards and call a halt to it.
We are getting to that point I am afraid.

And so are millions of people who are just in fear and worry about their loved ones.
