To some extent, though, the so called 'microchords' are perhaps as much a matter of being able to control the timing of the starts of the chord as anything else. It's a way to make anticipations or delays of chords with perhaps more intuitive control than carets.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
