Hi Everyone,
Here is a song I wrote

http://www.box.net/shared/bvsdcgncy0

The words are:

Verse 1
Well you crossed the line
And you didn't come
And you knew that
I would be waiting for you
So I change my clothes
And I go to bed
And I hope that soon
I'll be fast asleep
But no dreaming of you
And I wake up a new man

Chorus
Hey, I don't want to love again
No more sadness with so much pain
Hey, I can go my own way
Survive and not go astray

Verse 2
Be strong without
I close out the tears
And I shut out the fears
Filter out the past
I won't wait again
And suffer in vain
And the world can run dry
Before again I will cry
There's no point to the game
Now I know you're to blame

Chorus

Verse 3
Well you crossed the line
And you didn't come
And you knew that
I would be waiting for you
I won't wait again
And suffer in vain
No dreaming of you
And I wake up a new man
There's no point to the game
Now I know you're to blame

Chorus

Hope you like it

Hi Jim,

You've been very productive with your songwriting! You've really assembled a great backing track in this one. Your confidence is shining through in both vocals and arrangement. One thing that stood out to me was the reverb on the vocals. I found myself wondering if clarity would be enhanced by backing off the reverb a little bit. That's my personal taste though and I know that at different times in the history of music, use of reverb has changed dramatically.

Overall, good job
Noel

Very fine blues. I would definitely come down on that guitar possibly taking out some of those lower mids and pan it off to the left away from the vocal. Could profit from some piano, and perhaps some percussion punctuation at the very end (where the piece sounds a little chopped off). The great thing about today's technology is that we can keep going back and trying different things.

Thanks Noel,
I used the setting for the reverb I normally use - but I will look at that again.
Thanks for your kind comments

Thanks George and pleased you liked the song.

You have some good suggestions concerning the guitar. May be some piano also - I play piano on almost every song I write so no problem.
Thanks again

GREAT BLUES! Strong vocal with good lyrics.

Personally I would remix this one as I think the balance of the backing tracks are off. I would lower the volume of the guitar then bring up the volume on all of the other instruments, especially the blues harp when it is taking a riff. After remixing the backing tracks I would look at the vocal reverb. It sounds like there is too much right now but that may be due to the fact that the vocal is so far out front. Again this may be just me.

MUCH MUCH BETTER

To nit-pick I would cut way back on vocal’s reverb. IMHO the vocal doesn’t sound like it’s in the same room as the band and it’s muddying up the mix. Again thought that is just me and others may differ.

It’s still a super blues song!

The blend is much better. I still think that the vocal has too much reverb but that is just my opinion, others will vary. I know that you stated this is your normal reverb setting but I have found out that there is no normal setting for any effect. The effect(s) and the level of effect(s) change for every song and sometimes even during the song.

Either way this is going into my keeper folder.

Great job on this one.

Great!
Wonderful blues, love the guitar, love the vocal, it's just great. I know that mastering does a lot, but I'm sure that musicians like my self can hear when something is special:-) Your guitar playing tells you've been in this a long time:-)

Jim. This is very cool sounding. I like the reverb. What I would do is put the guitar on some reverb. It's too dry and outstanding compared to the vocals and the rest of the music.

Love the night club feel you've got going on here. It's far as I'm concerned.
