It's really a collaboration with Josie doing a short part for this song. Hope y'all enjoy it.

That's the second nice musical surprise today.

Really nice, clear production there "kids". Vocals right out there centre stage.
Minimal instrumentation carries it well. Russ, how do you think a resonator guitar
might sound here and there?

Good one - enjoyed it.

Wow!

Russ, your vocals are getting better in my opinion. Either that, or my hearing has changed.

Josie, I love your voice! It is so sweet.

Good job to both of you.

Gary

Nice job! Great vocal pairing and blend.

Russ, there's something a little funky going on in the third and fourth bar after you come in following Josie's solo. There is a major seventh playing in the guitar where I would have expected a dominant seventh, because the minor seventh is the first note you sing in that bar. You're singing "Hello" after "Tell him I said". Check that chord out; seemed a little out of character for this song.

Hi Russell,

That's an excellent song. I really enjoyed listening to it. Well put together, great arrangement and first class singing. One small thought that I had as I was listening concerned one aspect of the lyrics. Have you tried singing it with the woman being in 3rd person (she, hers, etc., instead of you, yours, etc.)? As I said, just a thought.

All the best,
Noel

Hey Russ,

Great job buddy!

Your voice on this one has a slight Kenny Rogers air about it.
My first observation was picked up by Noel (woman being in 3rd person.... just a thought)

Two very nice vocals and well put together!

I hope I don't offend you but I'm not a great fan of the auto harmony, it may be just me but I find it can be a little distracting.

Thanks for sharing,

All the best,

Dave.

Hi Matt. Thanks for the nice comments. Yes there is a some kind of glitch. Notice it came up after the modulation. It's some kind of quirk in Real Instrments, but only in Real Band. You won't hear that in the BIAB version. It tells me it's a bug in RB. Not a killer, but an annoyance, just the same.

Thanks again.

Thanks Dave. I've heard that from others on this forum. I don't hear it myself. My voice,to me, anyway, is more like the lead singer in America. Think of "Horse wth no name". I used to get accused of being their lead singer back in the 70's. People thought I was slumming on small gigs to break away from the mainstream.

Ok this is a big thankyou to all of you for your kind comments. I had thought of adding a steel and fiddles as that's what is missing from the song. This song was origninally done by Johnny Duncan. You can hear it Here on YouTube.

I heard the song on my car radio the other day ago and decided to make my own version. When I got done with all I could do with it, or should I say, "wanted to do with it", I had to find a female vocalist for that part. I'd thought about using my wife but she doesn't have that high crisp type of voice. Then I thought my daughter but I couldn't because she was in the hospital and in no mood to sing when she got home. Then I thought of Josie. She's a country singer with a top quality, high timbered, voice. She finally got it put together for me this weekend.

After I posted it, and listened with fresh ears, I realized that there were some things I hadn't done with the song.

1. I forgot the fiddles and steel

2. I forgot to put a more stereo feel to it

Other than that I was completely happy with it. Josie has a top choice voice for this. Probably for any song. And she can sing on my stage any day of the week as far as I'm concerened ... assuming I actually get a stage for her to sing on.

Thanks again eveyone. You're a great bunch.

Yeah I thought that too but I just heard a whisper of Kenny coming through also!
BTW Saw him live in UK last May.... Legendary!

Russ,

You remind me of Jimmy Buffet on this one. Very nicely done, not crazy about the harms, but they work just the same. You did a very nice vocal on this one buddy. WTG !!!

Josie,

You have a beautiful voice and sing very well ma'am.

Great job you two.

Russ, there's another person that thinks you are Kenny Rogers. Please, please please turn off the TC Helicon on the chorus. It sounds so much better with you solo. Try just one harmony part that is you and not the software.

Gary, Russ's vocals have always rocked - one of the best vocalists on PG forums for sure. It's when it gets covered up with the TC Helicon synthetic sound when it's hard to hear it's quality.

Russ - you can do way better than the TC. WAY better. This song really doesn't need the harmony vox. Resist the urge. I dare you to post a version without the TC. Double Dog Dare.

If you must have BGVs, why not have Josie do some BGVs instead on perhaps the last chorus? She did fine on the verse.

Russ,

Great job - I was thinking Jimmy Buffet as I was listening - scrolled down to find out I wasn't the only one. I'm thinking that adding other instruments might distract from the feel you have - but it would be interesting to hear how it changes things.

Josie - great job

Keepem' comin'

Really cool! Got that Jimmy Buffet meets Bruce Springsteen theme. Perhaps it is the laid back music singing about a guy working in a factory that spun that. I don't know.

I liked the mood. A fun tune that I will now be whistling throughout the day!

All right! All right!! First ... you guys just insulted my Vocalist 4. I didn't use the TCHelicon. 2nd I don't have the range to do the harms anymore. Too old and too much worn out voice parts. I had thought about Josie doing some of the harms but I don't know her harmony strength. 3rd this is how the song actually goes, so far as harmony is concerned. But there is a female vocalist included in the original song. Think the original was sung in unison to the lead singer tho'.

Anyway thanks alot for your comments. Far as I'm concerned Josie is the star of this one. i'm going to have to see if I can get her to do another one with me with full 2 part harmony. I'll have to see if she's up to it.

Russ, please give my apologies to your Vocalist 4. Actually, I take that back. I'd rather hear you sing solo than that thing screwing with your vocals any day. Just because the original had harmonies does not mean you have to have them as well. Make it the Russ and Josie version.
