It's also the way I work, but then as I'm sometimes doing straight piano and sometimes other keys, the effects of the amp+cab are inconvenient. Sometimes I want clean piano, sometimes over-driven electric, sometimes vibes, etc..

My mixer has amp+cab modelling on some inputs.

I have to say that, as a small jazz combo, mostly the piano, guitar and bass use their own amps and the horn section are au naturel.


Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
