Hello! I have recently installed a new Universal Audio Volt 2 audio interface (AI) to replace my old Behringer AI. The Volt 2 works well with all my programs, Reaper, etc, everything sound related but not with Biab. I have installed the volt 2 according to instructions, and I have changed Biab preferences when changing from the Behringer to the Volt 2. I have attempted to do a A/B using both the Behringer and the Volt 2, but now neither of them work when I load a song.
The interesting thing I find is that when I first open Biab, but prior to loading a song there is a style pre- chosen, and a C chord in the music field. If I then start Biab I have sound using both the Behringer and the Volt 2. However if I load a SGU or Mgu song, no sound. The problem may have its origin around a month ago when I downloaded Windows 11, as I have been busy and do not recall if I have used Biab since the W 11 upgrade, but I do believe I have used it with the old AI Behringer. Still not 100% positive.
I have Biab 2021, unfortunately I can not find the build number.
Any and all help in resolving this issue is much appreciated.
When you say this: "The interesting thing I find is that when I first open Biab, but prior to loading a song there is a style pre- chosen, and a C chord in the music field. If I then start Biab I have sound using both the Behringer and the Volt 2."
Does it mean that you are running both sound cards on your computer and you control which sound card is used by settings in each program?
Thanks for a speedy reply. No, I should have clarified. That phenomenon applies to either AI, ie either Volt or Behringer, but not both being connected att the same time. Does that open a line of thought?
0zoro the volt is a nice interface. re biab the only way to advise is if you post a pic of your driver preferences for volt in biab. lets address this , then can proceed to other points. you might want to check if volt is multi client capable,,,if NOT and your useing another program with biab concurrently eg reaps (i'm a reaps user from day 1) and its useing asio then set biab drivers in biab to WAS.
check with uaaudio support if volt is multi client cos my brief google search yielded no info.
also consult the vids on this pg site and the bb manual re setting up a biab audio interface.
as i said posting your pics of biab driver prefs will help other pg users help you.

Do you mean "file manager" in Biab? W11 has no File manager, if there is one in Baib it has been well concealed from my eyes. On the other hand my wife claims that it must be in front of me to be discovered?! I have taken a screen shoot of the settings in Biab. No anount of coaxing or dragging and dropping has allowed me to put in in my reply. Is there another method?
Yes, Windows has the Volt as default.
Reaper has sample rate: 44100 hz Buffer size: 256 ~7.3/7.5 ms ASIO 24 bit wave 2/2 channels
Sorry if I appear unresponsive, long latency in response, I am working between replies and soon it is time for me to go to bed. will check in early tomorrow.
0zoro
ps the Reaper stats are the same that Biab shows but in addition show:
input data format: Int32LSB output data format: Int32LSB ASIO active (PCM mode)
You must use replay to get to the file manager, there is no file manager in quick reply. You must first take a picture or print screen and save it as a jpg, then just follow the instructions in the file manager.

Dad, how will I know when I've become an adult.
When your day is ruined because they rearranged the grocery store.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
no no...you post pics useing this forum software. when you reply to a post like i'm replying to you. look at the bottom before pressing submit button under the reply. (notice marios post above...thanks mate )
if biab is set to asio AND reaps is set to ASIO AND both programs are open/operating at the same time, and you have probs try changeing the biab driver from asio to WAS.
it is very important that you get clarification from ua support as to if the volt is MULTICLIENT...i cant find info on this aspect of the volt

We have this wonderful video that goes over how to set up an audio interface and how to troubleshoot it. Let us know if you need anything further!
Excellent video! Clear, to the point, no distractions, no deviations.
An index to the main sections would be good, but it doesn't look too hard to navigate without one. Big headings help.
Very nicely done indeed.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11 BIAB2026 Audiophile, a bunch of other software. Kawai MP6, Ui24R, Focusrite Saffire Pro40 and Scarletts .
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
I have enclosed my Biab settings in a jpg file entitled audio settings. They correlate well my Reaper AI settings listed below as text.
I am currently inquiring in to whether Volt is multi client capable. The jury is still out on that question but I have not attempted to run Biab and Reaper at the same time. On the other hand I do run vids etc from my music teacher at the same time as Baib. I suppose this could be an eventuel multi client conflict if Volt can not handle the load?
I have Biab 2021, unfortunately I can not find the build number.
Go to Help > About Band-In-A-Box. The build number is in brackets following the "Version 2021" info.

that was a great method of saving your preferences for future reference. There are so many preferences in all programs used, and I spend so much time trouble shooting problems because I dont have a record. Do you have a method of enlarging your screen shots for reference purposes? Those pics were rather small.
Do you have a method of enlarging your screen shots for reference purposes? Those pics were rather small.
These are all high res screen shots which will permit zoom-in for clear viewing.
Just to be clear, BIAB = MME and my DAW Reaper= ASIO. WAS has always been a problem for me in BIAB. And while BIAB and my MOTU ASIO work well together other folks have reported ASIO issues with BIAB. Including the fact that ASIO is generally one use at a time.
Musicstudent. no probs here with biab WAS setting. its a weird old daw world...lol. so far i'm very happy with the audient drivers. not given me one problem in reaps (asio ) or biab. ....or rb...zilch nada in one year of use. also audient latency in reaps is 4ms...and i could get that lower if i wished...so i'm a happy lad.
0zoro if the volt is NOT multi client AND your running biab with that video application at the same time this "might " be the source of your problem if the vid teaching app is useing the asio driver. best way to check is to close/exit the video app... and then see if biab operates fine. from your graphic your useing asio driver in biab. THUS if the volt isnt multiclient ...and you want to use the vid app at same time... run a test changeing biab from asio driver to WAS driver and see if that works.
the problem , as many have noted is that asio "is a one trick pony"...ie only one music app at a time if the drivers arent multi client.
in conclusion try running biab with WAS driver and not asio.

I have changed the driver in Baib from ASIO to WAS. I now have sound! I have double checked with several songs both MGU and SGU, of these one particular song (and unfortunately the song was newly downloaded thus the one where I first discovered the sound issue) seems to be a bit wonky in that it will sometimes play one time only, or not at all. The ASIO drive seems not work with the Volt AI, though ASIO did work with my previous Behringer AI with no problem. This pleasure of having sound is now so new that I have not had the opportunity or time to discern whether the WAS drive affects the sound quality on Biab or not. While this puzzles me, it works and I see no present cause for further endeavor.
I would now like to thank you all for various reflexions, ideas, analytical suggestions (especially based on my somewhat sketchy problem description), and of course support!
That's great! Please consider to open your original post and mark it as "Resolved" (there's a button for that). This can help others in the future who may have the same / similar issue.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
