I enter a progression of all major chords - what I intend to be major triads: G A D D
BIAB then interprets it as G A D7 D7
How do I get it to stop changing my major triads into dom7 chords? I don't want Maj7 or Dom7. I want plain old triads - regardless of the style.

Hi jacalart, what version of Band-in-a-Box are you using? You could try turning on Simple Arrangement for a few or all of your tracks and see if that helps. Or click on the track a track in the Mixer and go to Track Settings | Auto-Fix Sour Notes.

Could you also share what Style you are currently using? The name which comes before .STY is the name of the Style. Also, is this happening on all tracks that are playing chords, or is it a specific one.

It happens with a variety of styles. It's random. Sometimes it turns what I think is a triad into a dom7 and sometimes not.

UPDATE: As a workaround, I found that if entered 'triads' as 'power chords', BIAB doesn't add any 7ths. Instead of G A D, I add them as G5 A5 D5 and they seems to work. At least for this style. I guess the 5 caps the intervals, so nothing higher than a 5th is added to a chord

Seems you found a workaround. But did you try "...turning on Simple Arrangement for a few or all of your tracks "? That is supposed to be the fix for keeping triads, as triads.

How do you turn on Simple Arrangement? Where is the button for that?

The Simple Arrangement option can be found by right clicking anywhere on your chord sheet in Band-in-a-Box and selecting Song Settings. In the Additional Song Settings window, you will see an option with a checkbox next to it labeled Song - Simple Arrangement (non-embellished)

Try this: Choose your Real Track in the Mixer Window Track Settings -> Set Natural Arrangement -> Disable - this will ensure that BIAB plays the exact chord you enter - it's set to Auto as default, which is almost equivalent to ON.
