Hello All,
I am trying to render some new realtracks in the utility tracks (1,2, 3 etc) and it will render the instrument I select (in my case, I am adding 3754 Guitar swells), but once on a while it will add a piano sound as well - possibly a midi note?
It doesn't always do this, and sometimes I will add more tracks with the same render, and it will not be there.
Any suggestions?

Isolate where the aberrent sound is coming from and report it. Sorry, thats all I got.

Thank you, Dan. I may wait 24hrs to see if there are other comments.
Simply, when I render any Realtrack onto a utility track, at least half the time it will play the newly-chosen file, and an apparent MIDI guitar note at the same time. If I solo the track, both can be heard, if I mute it, neither can be heard.

If you export the track to an audio file, is the abberant behavior of the other rogue notes also copied to the audio output?
If you freeze all of the song tracks, do these notes appear at the same location when re-playing the song?

If I render the track as a WAV file and open it in a separate player, there is no piano sound.

Wild guess: Do you by any chance have a saved audio file of the same name as your song, saved in the same folder? Ex. mysong.MGU and mysong.mp3 (or .WAV) They will both play.

I do have (previous versions) of the same song saved in the same folder, but they are all SGU files. There are no other files, only .sgu files in that folder.

Tom. Do these notes appear at the same location when re-playing the song? The reason I ask is to determine if awry MIDI data is encapsulated within the SGU file, or if potentially another, separate event is triggering the MIDI (a possible bad connection, faulty interface etc). What is your MIDI configuration? Are you using a separate external MIDI interface, or an internal VSTi etc? Can you upload the frozen song file to a file sharing service (e.g. DropBox) so others could examine?

Hello,
I have no special MIDI sounds set up, or anything external to play the tones. My settings under options include the Microsoft GS Wavetable synth as the output.
The notes do appear in the same places (they do not appear to be regenerating each time). It is almost as if there is a piano tone "base" from which the desired tone generates its melody.
I added a new am happy to share the file in Drop box. What is your email address so that I can share?

I reached out to support, and it seems to have been solved after performing "Return All OR Most to factory settings." Please go to Options | Return to factory settings | Return All OR Most to factory settings. If that doesn't resolve the issue, please close Band-in-a-Box, go to your bb folder (usually c:\bb\preferences), and delete the following two files: Mysetup.dk intrface.bbw Next, please right click on your Band-in-a-Box shortcut and select Properties | Compatibility | check "Run program as administrator" and click apply. Then just double click on your Band-in-a-Box icon to launch the program.

I reached out to support, and it seems to have been solved after performing "Return All OR Most to factory settings."
I can't believe this was not suggested by all of us "experts". This is always the first thing to do.

You’re right of course, Dan, but the problem description makes it hard to understand what about BIAB could even do this.

Still, the file is still uploaded and available by the link to dropbox, so I am only presuming that it is solved. Could there be something inherent in the file that it could replicate it in other people's local contexts? I am not sure what caused the problem, but I did really notice it after I watched the wonderful video by PG Music, "Band-in-a-Box® - Adding a Kick Drum Variation to Your Band-in-a-Box® Drum Part" and started experimenting with adding percussion sounds using Hi-Q sounds and notation edit. As I slid the notes up and down in this mode, both the percussion sound and the piano note played simultaneously. Very annoying when trying to get the right percussion sound! I wonder if this somehow may be related to the cause of the problem, although it is now apparently solved for me.
